I would support it. However, Title IX will make it twice as expensive. If they bring in a new men's varsity sport to the conference, then they'll have to add another for women or increase the current level of existing SEC womens teams. By that I mean they could have ALL SEC schools have a womens gymnastics or equestrian teams.

So they would have to do some research and find which womens' sport would still be the most attractive loss leader.

Id love it. Title 9 will make it tough but i think we should bring it on. Its the largest growing sport in the country.

I would love to see this happen. There is some good-great talent coming out of Georgia. I know a few kids from high school that went to D-1 programs, and there would have been a good chance of them coming to UGA if there was a soccer team to offer them the same scholarships

I'd support SC getting one.

If the SEC got Men's Soccer I'd approve of that too because I believe SC would have a distinct advantage with an established program already. The CUSA is home to some real soccer powers and SC has been able to win that conference a few times.

Just going out on a limb here, but I think Texas A&M and Florida would run the SEC soccer world

I enjoyed playing soccer, but I think we should leave it to the Europeans/South Americans.

The SEC and the Big 12 and their overflowing coffers not sponsoring men's soccer is what's holding the whole USSF back a level. SEC and Big 12 start soccer, USA wins World Cup in the next 20 years. USA! USA! USA!

The state of Florida for whatever odd reason, has never had a soccer team that hasn't folded. The MLS has all but abandoned any ventures into the sunshine state.

I'd like to have it, but few schools actually have enough money to do it. Tennessee lol

We need to add it now to get a leg up on the competition.

I'd agree with this. If the big colleges in the south and Midwest started giving scholarships to men's soccer, it would greatly increase the US talent pool.

How do you feel about the possibility - it's being discussed and appears to be a done deal in the near future - that the SEC is going to adopt men's soccer as a sponsored sport across the league?

I haven't heard this, what's your source?

Blue Star for you.

Once A&M starts rolling the SEC dough in and adds the new Kyle money I'd love it if we added gymnastics and men's soccer. A&M would likely be highly competitive at both very quickly. Texas has huge gymnastics programs in Houston and Dallas and soccer is a monster in the state but there is virtually nowhere for people to go in Texas in either sport from a college perspective. They are in the middle of another major upgrade to the soccer stadium right now already, it's really nice as it is and has held NC's there before.

The big money loss with both of those sports though is injuries. Lots of injuries and lots of expensive surgeries just kill the budget for sports that lose money as it is.

Could not agree more. Exactly this. Exactly. And with the new TV contract we'll have plenty of money to do it.
