Ok, buddy. I have too much work to do today to get into this with you.

good question- i found this which i guess is the simple answer..

quote:

The Boilermakers aren't winning enough to bring a steady stream of fans into the stadium. Purdue has lost eight straight at home against Big Ten teams and coach Darrell Hazell has three wins at Ross-Ade Stadium in two years, including a pair against FCS programs.

They don't give away as many tickets as bama fans like to claim. Plus somebody does pay for those anyway. The hate for UAB football from Tuscaloosa is fricking hilarious.

Yeah, I found a couple of similar articles.
Sounds like tough times there.
Massive external evaluation and consulting needed, for sure.

Half yall didn't even go to Alabama and you're fine with your fav school just killing a program off that didn't even affect your school athletically (or in football-which is all yall care about anyway)

I'm not sure how you interpreted that as me 'trashing Bama fans'. Maybe I should have clarified. The point I was attempting to make was that if you didn't even go to Alabama, but are an Alabama resident, you'd think you'd care at least a little about some of the other programs in the state. Hence my heartless comment.

I'd hate to see ULL or ULM or Tulane lose their football programs. Or MTSU or UT Martin.

Just stop. Facts only get in the way. It has been debunked repeatedly that tickets were free. The city bought and was "paid" around 10000 tickets they then gave away to whomever they chose to.

This is all whistling past the graveyard anyway. Some people on this board see no correlation with attendance rising as the team improved...

You realize this means they averaged 10K per home game last year, right? They had 25 years to demonstrate support for their program and failed miserably in that regard.

Not every community college, tech school or satellite campus needs a football program. I think a lot of other schools would benefit by shutting down their program also, or at least dropping in classification.

Wrong

The fact that bama fans actually think this is about support is funny.

Working in higher ed I care about the universities in my state. I have advocated for UAB and USA to both end completely useless football programs because the programs are so damn expensive and that money can be used better elsewhere. I am an alum of both Alabama and South Alabama
