for the record, no SEC Rant poster who is not an Alabama fan is a bigger fan/supporter of Bear Bryant than yours truly.

But, fair enough.

Yep....maybe the Auburn fans in this thread would like to comment on AU's commitment to the city of Birmingham specifically as it realtes to the Iron Bowl.

Why? Not relevant.

I just find it ironic that AU fans are criticizing the UA BOT over this decision and its impact on the city when AU had zero fricks to give about Birmingham. The whole stadium issue can be traced back in part to AU's decsion to move the Iron Bowl out of Birmingham.

You seem so concerned with all things Birmingham, surely you understand that the annual Iron Bowl game meant big dollars for the city.

A no-brainer.

Still, two separate issues entirely.

Of course... do as we say, not as we do

A business decision for Auburn? Made sense for and was in the best interest of AU?

So why does the UA BOT not get that benefit of the doubt?

A side issue maybe. Birmingham's and hence UAB's stadium woes can be traced back to AU's decsion to discontinue the neutral site Iron Bowl.....and you know perfectly well what I am talking about........

I know what you are talking about, but it doesn't matter. Bama could have kept their home games at LF. AU was one game a year. Bama was all their big home games for many decades.

It just isn't relevant to this topic though. UAB wanted their own stadium on campus. Studies showed it would be profitable from year one. We all know what happened.

AU just isn't relevant here. AU can't be depended on to prop up the city of Bham that is mostly bama as it is. That is crazy talk.

uh, this only defeats your entire point. Why would a city that's mostly bama need another team that nobody cared about?

The board is heavily dominated with Bama alumni, and they clearly keep UA as their #1 interest.

Where do you expect the University of Alabama BOT members to be from? Its all the same school system!
I'd be willing to bet that the AU board is filled with mostly AU people.

Looks to me like there are a lot of Aubs scared of what Bama will do with the millions that have been going into the sinking ship called UAB football.

If the funds were there, yea. Not to mention plenty of satellite schools have football teams. If anything, they should have made UAB an FCS school. I agree with an earlier poster who said that. It would make more sense for a first year team.

You just outed yourself as being completely full of shite on this topic, and that you are just repeating talking points you have read on here.
