Too bad you spent all your time and money on Auburn stuff instead of UAB like everyone else.

So the program could continue losing $17M+ annually? No.

No dipshit. When I say I went and played there, I mean I played basketball games at UAB's arena and football games at legion field. Grew up going to dozens and dozens of UAB games living in Bham.

I graduated from AU.

Dude, you are melting down over something you really don't even care about. How pathetic is that? You are throwing a fit because you feel like this is another good opportunity for you to tell Bama fans that they are not good human beings. You suck arse.

Funny this guy waits until AFTER it's closed down to be like "oh, yeah, I WOULD have sent the money in, but nobody asked me."

The fact that this guy didn't notice that nobody was going to UAB games should tell you how much he cared about UAB football.

I was supposed to know that how? That was specified nowhere in your post. And your wording was very misleading.

But hey, keep calling people names if makes you feel better.

They never wanted the program to begin with. Bryant Jr was strongly against it. The bama coaches spoke out against it and said no way in hell do we want UAB to ever have a football program. You can find quotes by bama coaches saying hell no forever to UAB football on line.

frick yeah they did. I tell you that your team has to play in a goddamn ghetto demilitarized zone, that will sure as shite prevent you from buying a ticket and going I suspect.

Now you've just gone full retard. 67,000 show up for the Magic City Classic, but UAB students won't go because it's a "goddamn ghetto demilitarized zone?" You spew bullshite like this and that's why no one takes you seriously. Yap about Bryant Jr. and Jimbo Fisher, and whatever else all you want. When you post fricking stupidity like this, you just prove to everyone in the thread what a fricking moron you are. 67,000 to go see AA&M and ASU, and somehow most of them managed to get to the game and get home without getting raped or murdered. How the frick does that even happen?

No one here is gonna deny that Legion Field is a pit. It is. But this notion that UAB students won't go because of where it's located is fricking bullshite, and you know it. Or you really are that stupid.

Well, I know you'll be sad you can't use the UAB facilities for free anymore, but that seemed to be pretty much everyone else's plan too.

Here's a corporation with deep pockets and a willingness to give to UAB athletics. Did they say, "Hey President Watts...we'll donate to UAB athletics, but we want the money to go to UAB football." No. Did they say, "President Watts, we have a $1,500,000 check for UAB athletics, but if you cut football, you're not getting it"? Hell no. They made a donation to be used towards a men's and women's sport that is financially viable long term and is hugely popular in the city of Birmingham, especially over the mountain, where 4 or 5 of the best HS programs in the state are located.

You have a point. But the process with which this decision was made was flawed. Again, I do not argue the outcome would have definitely been different, but the approach should have been, unless x amount is generated x will have to be cancelled.

I linked the earlier articles to emphasize the theme that the donors felt they were kept out of the loop. That becomes a trust issue. Will their donations decrease? I cannot say for certain but usually boosters voice their displeasure via their checkbook. I think the soccer improvements are great, but that was in the works before any of these developments came to light.

Funny how the Gumps can't wait to express their disdain for UAB, but "they don't care about UAB."

Has there been history of UAB football game attendees getting robbed or beat up?
