Saban didn't coach LSU players to the 2007 BCS National Championship, and Shula didn't coach Alabama to an undefeated regular season last year...

I think this might be a good point concerning the past few years if the players were winning in spite of their coach. It's pretty clear that Shula couldn't win with Shula's players. The fact that Saban is winning with "some" Shula players is a testament to Saban's coaching ability. Some teams are left with players that are so talented that they can win in spite of bad coaching. There is a big difference.

uh oh, don't bring up coaching or you'll get some great nuggets of wisdom from the bammers.
They hang their hats on Sabans performance at LSU even though Miles has done better. This is because Saban is God and Miles is a doofus. YET, they demean Miles' performance at Okie Lite BECAUSE Gundy has done better on the premise that Miles is stilla doofus and can't coach.
Make sense? NO. Because that's Bammer logic

imo....saban brings a certain arrogance with him wherever he goes with the exception of the dolphins because they are all professionals ...it could be directly attributed to his napoleonic syndrome..however i think it breeds confidence in the players on his team. they actually buy into the hype that is nick saban. not taking anything away from his coaching ability but i think there is alot to be said for having the mindset that YOU are the best and can win on any sat. again this is just my opinion

If he's not very good with the X's and O's, how come all of our trick plays seem to work to perfection, and ballsy calls seemingly work out?

Yeah, it breeds confidence for a while, and they will play above their ability for a game or two, but he always runs the risk of dropping a few games by keeping the score close and trying to grind it out instead of going for the jugular. It didn't happen last year because their running game was so dominant, but you can't always count on that every year.

So, if Saban is winning with Shula's players (something Shula never did), imagine what he will do with his players and all these top 5 recruiting classes. Scary isn't it?

I'm going to post this for the 984th time, which is 983 times more than I thought it would need to be posted.
LSU: Saban's players that he left for Miles were GREAT. There was a ton of talent that was well coached and prepared by great coaching staffs.
Bama: Shula's players were mediocre talent wise, were lost through attrition through his tenure, and were not very well coached or prepared.
Bama fans that say Les won with Saban's players are dumb, because most of those guys were young players when Saban was here. However, LSU fans that try to be clever by turning this around on Saban and Bama fans are IDIOTS, because that is essentially a huge compliment to Saban considering the condition that Alabama was in compared to LSU.
