Lots of these college coaches are thin-skinned.

It's why Saban ran back to the college ranks as fast as his stubby, little legs could carry him.

They're so used to bring kings of their own little fiefdoms, they chafe at even the mildest of questioning.

Should Saban lower expectations of his own players and stop having meltdowns on the sidelines when mistakes occur?

Someone may have mentioned this already (didn't read the entire thread).

Didn't he say something after the Ole Miss game that y'all were talking about how great the team was until they lost. He said that in all his greatness, he noticed the shortcomings in the previous wins but no one wanted to talk about it until they lost. Essentially saying "why didn't y'all talk about the bad play in the wins?"

Now, a week later, he's complaining because people are questioning the poor play in a win.

As a senior military officer I share many of the same personality characteristics of CNS. And to answer your question, I would have to say no. The root of his greatness as a HC is his drive to excel. And that simply does not permit you to enjoy life very much.
I agree with one exception. His "enjoyment" is of a different nature. Making "his arse quit", for example, gives him significant satisfaction. The domination is the rush!

ZOMG Saban is a miserable man he doesn't even enjoy winning

ZOMG Saban is declining he is happy about close wins over Arkansas.

I don't disagree with you. Achieving some form of an objective is an incredible rush. But it fades quickly. You feel compelled to accomplish something else almost immediately. Not a lot of joy and satisfaction. Speaking from experience. He leads a very tough life.

Honestly, I think Saban is out of line here. His wife had the audactiy to say they didn't feel appreciated last year when they thought our fans were being a bit complacent. Now when the fans think things aren't exactly perfect with the team, he lashes out at us.

I appreciate everything Saban has done for the program but I'm getting a little tired of being lectured about how bad we are when all we do is bend over backwards for his every whim. IMO, Saban could uses that passion he showed yesterday and attempt to rally everyone together instead of scolding people.

Rival fans are hopeful that he is sensing decline, I'm sure. This video is pretty simple though. He's basically suggesting that the mental mistakes players make in the games are partially attributable to the weight of expectations from the fan base. Probably has some merit. And you can bet that as far as he was concerned the whole conversation was about Blake. Think about it- what other seniors would they be talking about? Perry and Kouandjio I guess? Leon Brown? That whole rant had to do with supporting his QB.

How can a coach with who negotiated for a $7-8 million dollar paycheck, preaches about "being a champion," and has several straight #1 recruiting classes complain about high expectations?

Any arse clown who hires Lane Kiffin should be expecting decline. There is a proven track record there. Does Bama pay Kiffin more than they do say....Penn Wagers?

Bama's play this year is not Kiffin's fault...they have a horrible Oline coach. His only strength is his recruiting ability. When I read that Bama only had like 3 rushing yards going into the 4th qtr Saturday I was shocked. Cristobal should be fired. He is a serious downgrade from Pendry.

Yeah but his recruiting ability is freaking incredible.

Agreed, but what good is that if he cant coach worth a crap? Bama's oline has been a weak link both years he has been there. They did seem to improve some as the year progressed last year, but the oline just appears to be a dumpster fire this year.

Many would tell you that Stoutland (The OL coach after Pendry) made a lot of poor evaluations and Cristobal has been having to play with a shitty hand.

I never heard him utter the word "fans" in the interview. He said something about "the people I talk to". Yall think he talked to many fans before that interview? I'm pretty sure he's talking to the media about the media and doing it to protect and defend his team. DWI.

Saban goes on a rant like this every year. Every year the reaction is the same.
