I bet Hernan told him a bunch of things. Stop playing so much man to man coverage when your corners are garbage. Your linebackers are fat and slow. Get a better rush. Your schemes are outdated. Fire Kirby ASAP.

This article was basically just a big excuse for Bama getting humiliated for the second year in a row after being gifted a bowl game

So what are LSU's excuses for their humiliating four game losing streak to Bama?

I doubt Saban even thinks about that game anymore. I'll still say that we would've waxed that Mormon arse if our players gave a damn, and didn't just party their arse off in New Orleans.

Not to mention how much of a disadvantage a team has, when you have to play Mormons in New Orleans.

Why would you pass up the chance of having Nick Saban owe you a favor?

This really does happen all the time. OSU went to Oregon the last couple years and those teams shared philosophies and notes.

It's a coaching thing. End of the day OSUs guys were better than Bamas on New Years.

When Tom Herman gets fired from Houston, he can call Nick Saban for job help. Thats what he gets out of this. Also to frick Urban if he wanted to.

And a defensive back passed for 400 yards in that game?
thought it was closer to 500 yards, regardless we didn't stop him in 2013 and 2014.

Most SEC fans were pulling for Bama as was I. But the painful truth is OSU just straight up whipped them man on man.

Don't need to hire a consultant to tell you that.

I wonder what would compel him to offer that information up. I guess flattery.

Most coaches are very open about sharing best practices. It's not even that uncommon for a school to send it's coaches to another school to watch practice and share information.

I mean - why the hell would Herman agree to this? Probably pissed off his OSU peeps who could potentially face Saban again in the playoff, and what will happen if Herman is playing Saban in a big game sometime soon? This is less about Saban giving attention to his job and more about Herman being an idiot. If you have an advantage over someone you don't go and immediately tell them why that advantage exists.
This type of post demonstrates the ignorance of its poster.

quote:honest question, what does he get out of that? like why would he help them out? JMO.... Unlike fans who hate each other, the players & coaches are kinda a fraternity... The players don't hate each other in most cases, hell most of them know each other & know what they've all been thru to get to their level. I'm assuming it's the same with coaches as it is in any business, you always gotta network, talk etc... Tons of staff's visit other schools every year to exchange ideas & methods...
Bingo! Some of the clowns on this board are totally clueless about the professional aspect of sports and can't understand this.

This is such a non-story. Coaches consult with each other all the time. It's a fraternity. Kudos to Saban for going to the source to improve, and kudos to Smart for admitting that he knew he was in trouble at the half of that game.
Some people take this game and make it so personal that they have to lionize or demonize coaches. It's the off season and summer time. Perhaps some of the more obsessive of you should shut the laptop and go outside. Enjoy life.

Yep, this is a complete non-story. The only reason why they even put this in the press????I don't even know lol.

Saban already played Urban so what Urban does shouldn't be a surprise to Saban anyways.
