Freeze released a statement saying that Austin Golson will transfer to Auburn as a WALK-ON under normal transfer rules.

No release to be on scholarship.

So, kid will sit out '14 for transferring & be a walk-on in '15? correct?

ahh ok. I can understand then. I haven't been following the story too much from the OM perspective. I hope that him wanting to be closer to sick grandparents is still the majority of the reasoning.

He's still going to lose to MSU this season but I will say he just tightened the point margin with that move..

Wouldn't start for Auburn this year anyway and he is not guaranteed to start next year

i don't remember when grant went on scholarship, but I believe it was before the 2012 season...

2010 - Bama
2011 - AU walk-on/ redshirt
2012 - AU scholarship/ eligible to play
2013 - JR season
2014 - SR season

i think this is how it went down.

Nope. He is not even going to bother applying for the medical hardship waiver.

Auburn returns 4 starters on the OL from last year. Malzahn probably told him he wont start this year anyway, so there is really no need for him to apply for the waiver

This exactly. Gus and Hugh are friends to some extent. Gus would never try to make Hugh look bad! Now if it were Bert, we would have a different narrative altogether!
