Austin Golson

Wow huge. Hopefully he can transfer to UGA!

Where did these Auburn rumors come from?

quote:

guess he doesn't want to start

Who does Auburn have that's better?

quote:

Can the coaching staff even talk to the kid? I'm guess they can't.

Not until he is formally released with the correct forms signed.

One of my biggest peeves is when people that age still can't handle leaving home.

Not everyone is capable of it, especially if you don't have friends at where you are.

quote:

Golson has been a whiny bitch since day one because Tunsil is a star and he'll never start over him. Ever.

Why not let Golson play RT? Wasn't that what he played last season?

quote:

He better walk on...

Why? That makes no sense.

quote:

At least make him move to JUCO

That would defeat the purpose of the transfer. No quality JUCOS in Bama. Only one in Ga.

quote:

If someone happens to be sick or whatever, he should quit football and have all of his spare time to sit with them. Then, and only then, would I respect his wishes. If not, then he is fricking lying about wanting to be closer to them.

Yeah that's logical. All or nothing. Idiotic post.

quote:

If he needs to leave so be it but it shouldn't benefit OM's direct competition

Sensible post. As you said earlier, he should have no issue playing FCS or D2.

This thread (and, in particular, dumb shite you say) reminds me why I hate reading about this kind of stuff on this board.

b/c he grew up an auburn fan... his recruitment came down to OM/AU... and his hometown is about an hour from campus.

as for who we have that's better... we'll start 5 of them this fall... Golson would be battling it out for a spot on the two-deep this fall if he came to AU.

That's what he has been playing. Went through spring at RT and was the projected starter at RT. We have a juco coming in that is also a RT and most expect Cooper to take the RT spot anyway. I hope Cooper is as good as some think.

Literally our whole starting offensive line and a couple on the two deep.

No he doesn't

Freeze said he PROBABLY wouldn't block it. If it comes to it I don't think Freeze would release him to Auburn or Bama. Then again, Hugh hasn't exactly pleased me during this situation.

Based on what? Golson started as a freshman in the SEC and was a big recruit.

Didn't really start, but he did play a decent amount. For a FR OL to come in and play at all means he is good.

Pat Miller and Avery Young started as FR in the SEC and were both big recruits as well.

Oh, and they're both a year older than Golson.

Freeze released a statement saying that Austin Golson will transfer to Auburn as a WALK-ON under normal transfer rules.

No release to be on scholarship.

Good.

I moved home home to be close to my mom when she had cancer. To any of you saying crap about this kid wanting to be closer to sick family, you need to care less about football and more about more important things in life. Glad he is doing what is right for him.

Golson claims his grandparents are sick and so he wants to move closer to home (Prattville).

Several people close to the program are saying it also has to do with him being butthurt about how awesome Tunsil is. He also just never "fit in" at OM.

Lot of people were claiming Freeze was a bitch because he said he "probably would not stop" Golson from transferring to a division rival.

Turns out Freeze has NOT released Golson to go on scholarship, so he will have to walk-on at Auburn.
