Alabama also has 10 major national championships, USC has 6 major national championships.
Alabama has 27 conference championships overall, USC has 36 overall.
Alabama has had 60 bowl appearances, USC has had 49.

We also have 1 more recognized title than them but dont let a bad stat get in the way of a good spin.

its terrible when 2 loss seasons ending in the sugar bowl are labeled down years.

everyone knows it's between bama and the dame ... the others don't have the history that goes back to the 30s/20s, or don't have nearly the same number of titles and conference titles ...

Well, cool, but I wasn't comparing Alabama and USC, I was simply responding to Old Yeller's earlier post that stated he thought the "Top 3" were Alabama, USC and Notre Dame....
When, in actuality, Alabama is 7th in victories and 6th in winning %, and USC is 9th in both.

Tell me, which one is worse? Alabama's two game losing streak or LSU's 3 game losing streak to Alabama?

That website you keep posting has an all time list. The top 3 are Bama, ND, and USC. Surprise surprise

Yep.
Tier 1 - Bama & ND
Tier 2 - Oklahoma, USC, Michigan, OSU, PSU, Neb, Texas
Tier 3 - FSU, Miami, Tennessee (although they are spiraling downward)
Tier 4 - UGA, LSU, aTm, Arky, UCLA, Auburn
You can probably swap around some from tiers 3 & 4.

Which is only one part of the equation. And anyways, if you were add back in the 8 wins Alabama was forced to forfeit in 1993, and the 21 wins Alabama vacated over a 3-season stretch in the mid-00s, the Crimson Tide would be 861-313-43 since they started playing football in 1892 (my earlier figures were inaccurate). That would put Alabama at #4 all-time in overall wins.

Jesus it's just THEIR opinion. Dayum. Must every human being ever conceived since the Big Bang agree that Alabama is the 'GOAT' just because you people fantasize in your minds that you are ??????
Alabama has an impressive no. of national championships, HOWEVER, like 'no. of victories' and 'winning percentage', it's not the only criteria.
I'm sorry, but people don't automatically think 'Alabama' when discussing the greatest college football program of all time.
Notre Dame, Michigan, and Oklahoma maybe.
Now, the last 5 years ??? Probably Alabama.

And plus teams like Michigan have padded their win totals by playing in a conference that only had one other decent team in it. The Big 10 has always been Michigan, OSU, and little sisters of the north. Hasn't the Pac 8/10/12 basically owned the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl historically?

^Don't try to reason with them.

And if you add back in the 29 games Alabama was forced to forfeit/vacate, they would be in the Top 5 both in wins and winning percentage.

What Alabama has going for them is...

...the most bowl wins, most bowl appearances
This is very misleading. The Big Ten forbid its members from playing in any bowl but the Rose Bowl until the late 1970s. Also, Notre Dame refused to play in bowls until 1970 because they said that it interfered with their final exams.

I know one is the NC game NDh won but because UPI didn't do a poll after Bowl games, Bama claimed the NC.
The disparity in Bowl Game appearances is only because ND never accepted Bowl Bids until after the 1969 season, so that argument is invalid. ND would have AT LEAST as many Bowl appearances.

Sorry to disappoint you, but LSU is 11th all-time in victories, and 8th in bowl appearances, AHEAD of Penn State, and waaaaaaaaay ahead of Florida State and Miami.
As a matter of fact, LSU was way ahead of Florida State and Miami - BEFORE those two programs starting winning regularly.
USC is only 9th in victories and winning percentage.
Alabama is 7th in victories and 6th in winning %

Fair enough 87, I can agree with you on that.
