My point is, you can't point to a hire of a HS coach by Bama specifically to get a player...and you can't point to Bama hiring a coach directly from HS to their staff in recent years.
I can point to a case where Bama hired a middle school coach to get one of his former players. Does that count?

You wanna focus on something that has taken place within the last 30 years? Jelks got to Bama in 1985 man.

We're talking about what's happening now in college football with the trend being to bring high profile HS coaches into the fold as analysts so they can get their foot in the door.

I'm not saying Gus is doing something wrong. I'm just saying it seems he is doing it more than others. That may be bc he got his start as a HS coach and he wants to help others break in like he got his break in 2007. Either way, he's hired about 4 HS coaches to his staff in the past 3-4 years. That's an average of about 1 per year, so it's definitely not a new thing to him.

The article is wrong. WE are bringing in his coach to be a player on the scout team.

I'm pretty sure this practice is fairly common in college basketball. In order to lock down Dedric and KJ Lawson, Memphis hired their father on as a "director of player personnel."

Did Alabama not do this with players relatives and girlfriends? Not that there's anything wrong with it in my eyes.

Remember that time Alabama donated all of that money to the high school of Dee Hart and Hassan Clinton-Dix? Didn't that happen after they signed?

You mean when we renovated Dr Phillips' facilities to use for bowl practice? Yeah, that happens regularly everywhere. I doubt there's big 6 school in the SEC that hasn't. I believe Michigan St did the same thing to Edgewater's facilities.

I'm not gonna bitch, because I went to Dr Phillips High. For a 6A school with 4,000+ students, our facilities were really shitty.

You look at any team, you'll see a hs coach or assistant hired the same year as a recruit. Occasionally, it may be that they helped. But it's not surprising, because these coaches get to meet and talk often. It's how countless young coaches get discovered.

Hell, you argue say it's how Gus got his start. Cajun Bama is a dumbass, he missed his best trolling angle. But it's bullshite, because Gus probably loves to give those kinds of guys a chance, because he's been in their shoes. And they've probably spent hours talking about football and strategies.

Is it ok that USCe did this last season to secure the QB of the future?

This practice has been going on for quite some time, but it isn't illegal. Any player that would go some place to help his coach out should be questioned for why? Odds are if they are worth of flip they will be gone to a on the field position in 2 years anyway.

My guess is Monty Adams and Coach G had more to do with this kid signing at Auburn vs hiring his head coach to a future position.
