There is currently a rule being voted on and should it pass, this will in fact be illegal and would be retroactive to Jan 1, 2017.

This is an old practice though. Paterno did it in the early 80's on a RB out of Fultondale, AL. The kid flunked out the 1st year and the coach that road on his coattails was gone the next year.
Harbaugh did it last year with the Gary kid out of New Jersey.

We were accused of doing this to get Riley Ridley and Isiah Wilson. Nothing ever happened and it was just some folks who got rustled and spread bullshite. I'll believe it when it's announced.

I know Michigan did, in fact, hire a couple of HS coaches to land the #1 overall recruit a year or two ago, though. Looks like all of that will end in April, though.

It's legal, and there's a proposed rule that would make this illegal and retroactive to January.

I think the coach denied that he's leaving the HS.

There is a rule under consideration that if passed would prevent this type of thing from happening. It would be retroactive to Jan of this year, so he may just be saying he's not going so he can keep the job he has if the rule gets passed.

Sounds similar to giving a kids girlfriend a job in the athletic department.

A traffic citation?

Since Gus Malzahn took over at Auburn, Alabama has had WAY more players either get arrested, get charged or receive a citation.

Remember that time Alabama donated all of that money to the high school of Dee Hart and Hassan Clinton-Dix? Didn't that happen after they signed?

Man, I was wondering what happened at the last hour. This kid was in the bag for LSU....and it takes AU hiring his coach to be able to steal him from us

No. I remember when Alabama was assigned Dr. Phillips HS as the practice location by the Capital One Bowl. Alabama paid to have the facilities they were using upgraded prior to use. They did the same thing for the school facilities they used in the Rose Bowl the year before.
