I agree, Gus is basically a young Saban. He should be given the benefit of the doubt.
I think it's a travesty that Auburn isn't being more patient with Gus. And this unrealistic pressure makes it difficult for him to recruit, and improve the team. Jacobs should really consider giving him a multi year extension, so he has all the resources he needs to build a winner.

I'd hate it. One of the more influential coaches in the game, turned Baylor into an almost instant winner.

I will repeat this again and again until Auburn fires Gus....
They are making a mistake. Allow Gus to right the wrong. At least HE sees a problem and hears the fans. Les Miles is basically telling us to phuck off.

Auburn is a scum program so it seems fitting they would hire a scum bag.
Yep. Never seen a more morally bankrupt fanbase or program

I would put myself up on the free agent market for another team to root for. Been an Auburn fan my whole life, but could not tolerate this. AU hires Briles, they are dead to me!!!

Controversy thrives at Auburn.

I think winning is extremely important in college football. Saban brought in felons and was chastised by the media and fan bases. Now, no one gives two shits about it because he won football games Briles is in the same boat. He just needs a chance to win some football games and all will be forgotten. Also worth mentioning, Briles offered a heart felt apology for his actions. Personally, I would like to see him hired as an OC if Gus is not fired. If Gus is fired, then I would like to see Auburn hire the best coach available, regardless of baggage.
Wow. I don't think you're being sarcastic.

If Gus wins 6 games this year with this young team he should be SEC coty. A 3 year extension and substantial raise would be in order.

The local livestock would probably appreciate it...not so much the female student population.

It's a joy to be hated that much.

Does have a simple story line of the rapes?
Just wondering cause it seems the actual rapes aren't as important as bringing Baylor, and Briles down.

Bring it on, I for one welcome the opportunity to equate Auburn to Baylor for the rest of time.
That, and A&M owns Briles.

Only negative is he is getting up there in age
he's 60 and saban is 4 years older than him at age 64 maybe these days it depends on how bad a coach wants it but if Bowden & Paterno could both coach deep into their 70's and 80's I don't see any reason why Briles or Saban can't as well

Baylor University had no realistic system in place for dealing with student involved sexual assault when Briles came to Baylor. Unfortunately, it seems the University chose to pretend that bad things never happen.
On campus, bad things seldom did. There are strict male/female visitation policies and no alcohol on campus. This pushes those activities off campus. Title9 says schools must deal with off campus issues. Does this include what happens to a student on spring break in Mexico?
All Briles emails and phone messages were turned over and investigated. That revealed no evidence that Briles was involved in rape investigations or cover ups. Maybe he is Hillary, who knows?
There is no evidence that Briles knew anything about a Sam U assault at Boise. He never played a down at Baylor.
Many Baylor fans would like to know specific reasons why Briles was run off. As you can imagine, it is difficult to watch 10 win seasons leave without knowing the true reason why.
If Briles brought in bad kids, why was Texas so happy to take the top six of the 2016 class? Haha
My educated guess is that Baylor had a very poor system to deal with sexual violence. The blame for the system rest with the administration. It does appear that the University is working hard to correct this. How much of that failed system is Briles fault, I don't know.
Briles, like the rest of the big time coaches, is a hired gun. They are there to win football games. He will do that. The school that hires him will get bad publicity. They just have to decide if it's worth it.

Solid info. Thanks.
So are the actual rape information out? Like were they have girls walking on campus at night, and they were grabbed and raped? Or were they girls that were drunk, grinding up on the players all night, and then something happened in her room she invited him back to?
Yes I see the 2 as different, and so I'm left wondering as what actually happened seemed to be less important than what Briles did.
