Yes, the 2024-2026 window is when the next major round of conference realignment and we will see the 4 superconferences formed. It is going to be crazy.

The most interesting fact about that period for me is the fact that the Big 12 GOR ends before the ACC GOR ends. So technically the ACC could go offensive early and solidify their position before the Big 12 can fire back. Otherwise the ACC might actually be weaker than the Big 12, as it has the more wanted programs on the table for both the SEC and the B1G.

Another big factor is what Notre Dame does. They want their independence, but they will be pressured to squeeze into a conference with 100% membership. If that conference is the ACC that might give that league the kind of clout needed to pull in a Texas too (as the ACC would be a HUGE academic improvement to the Big 12). Imagine that conference- Texas, Notre Dame, FSU, Tar Heels, Clemson, Miami, etc. It would challenge the SEC and B1G directly.

My biggest hope deep down is that my program takes advantage of this time and puts something worth a damn on the stadium to maintain some sort of increased statue going forward no matter what Texas or OU does. The GOR is a huge blessing to an Aggie, as it prevents any sort of real damage control outside of how your run your program (a fact that might get Charlie fired before he should be). That is part of the reason that I don't mind paying Kevin 5+ million a year as long as he doesn't bottom out to a bowless season or a sub top 20 recruiting class. We don't have the luxury of time to rebuild, or make some awesome crapshot hire if someone steals our coach. We need to stack talent today, to stack wins before the GOR ends.

The first domino to fall will be Texas to the PAC. The ACC doesn't have enough open spots to get Texas and 3 traveling partners.

Got to beat LSU first (sorry I had too).

Oh I agree. The only way that Texas goes to the ACC is alone because independance simply won't work. And in that case we would be talking a complete Big 12 collapse to the point where Texas can't keep it together and so they avoid political problems. Like a worst case.

The ACC is a more likely landing spot for them than the SEC in that example.

Its cool, there are standards we all have to keep up. I know the name of the game.

There are rumors that Oklahoma is trying to map out a plan to get AAU so they can get the B1G invite.

They should want the AAU just because that is a badge of honor for their entire university.

Has Nebraska mapped out a plan to get their AAU status back?

If OU can get AAU by 2025 when the GOR is up I would not be surprised to see them and Kansas go to the BIG. The ACC GOR lasts a few years longer and UVA might not want to leave an ACC that will more than likely get Notre Dame to join in football if the 16 team superconference materializes. The only problem there is does the politics in Oklahoma allow OU and OSU to seperate. Either way gaining AAU status would be good for any school especially one that has an uncertain conference future ahead.
