You really believe not allowing TM7 the consequences of his actions helped him as a person?

Saban ignoring it Seemed to help Dre.

I guess you missed the part where he was suspended in 2011 and dismissed in 2012.

Had he "really" been suspended (i.e., the preset two-game suspension) in 2011 he may not have been dismissed in 2012.
No way to really know for sure though.

Dre was terrified to smoke as long as he was under Saban's thumb.

LSU fans love the computers. USCw hates em.

Pretty sure I remember Gundy lobbying for Okie State in '11 and Les lobbying for LSU in '07. No one seems to ever talk about that though

LSU and Oklahoma State won their conference in those cases.

Why does that matter? It doesn't matter in any other college or pro sport. Why all the sudden in cfb is a team ineligible for consideration for the top two if it didn't win its conference?
Short answer: It doesn't. But after 21-0 you either man-up and say "shite, well done Gumps" or you pussy out and say "but, but, we should have gotten to play the third best team in the country in the game that pit the two best teams in the country against each other."

I don't see an issue with this. In fact I would expect my coach to in this situation. I have a problem with Bama fans walking around with their heads stuck up their butts acting like Saban doesn't whine/complain/politic etc.

So are you saying Saban should have said nothing with his team in a good position for a spot in the NC?

It's lobbying regardless of whether or not they won their conferences

It matters because D1 football chooses a champion in a totally different manner than any other sport.

I would have expected him to weather publicly or privately.

Who cares? It's obvious the voters got it right, Alabama beat the dog shite out of lsu and were clearly the best team in the country. Losing by a field goal in overtime says the game could have gone either way. Losing 21-0 in your back yard says solitary confinement is in order for the prison rape.
Everyone knew in the back of their minds that Alabama was the best team in the country, hence the massive outcry of support for Oklahoma state from the lsu fanbase and the constant crying to this day that Alabama shouldn't have been there. It's unfrickingbelievable. A team shows up and whips their arse 21-0 yet they didn't deserve to be there. Where is your pride lsu fanbase?

For the sake of consistency, you could have stated that Bama's all-world defense lost in their own stadium, since the Super Dome is LSU's "back yard".
