LSU at #1 for OL, that's quite a compliment coming from a Bama fan. LSU does have three legit studs on the line - Pocic, Clapp, and Teuhema. Pocic may be the best C in the country and can play any position on the line. Teuhema moves from RG to LT this year, because he is the most talented player we have out there.
We're going to need true sophomore Toby Weathersby to step in at RT, and either Josh Boutte or Garrett Brumfield needs to up their game at RG. Otherwise, we might insert true freshman Donavaughn Campbell (Les has gone with freshman on the line before, like Trai Turner).

Vanderbilt's rush yards came once they were down by about 40 points. Same with Kentucky.
132 yards to a pretty good NW team and 152 yards to South Carolina plus two blowouts in which the other teams got some garbage time yards.
How exactly does that refute what I said?

Wow, and where would you have Alabama in those two spots? Of all of these, I expected that one to be the least debatable.

Nah, just young and inexperienced up front on both sides. And defense doesn't have a ton of depth.
Do you disagree?

If you base it on the previous year's numbers I assume you mean on the numbers that are returning? If so then there is no way bama has the #1 DL. The returning numbers on the DL (except for allen) are not that impressive. Not much production for the backups.
I base it on who I think will be the most talented and effective defensive line. I think, considering who they return, that Alabama being #1 is pretty defensible.

I mean, we are doing a preseason ranking. So whoever is #1 is "claiming a title"? That doesn't even make sense.

We're the best, deepest, blah blah blah.

Do you really believe that deep in your soul? It must suck to get Charlie brown'd every single year.

If you don't think LSU has elite talent along the Dline then you haven't been paying attention. LSU can match bama blue chip for blue chip along the Dline.
Alabama manhandled LSU in the trenches last season. LSU's blue chippers were middle of the pack in the SEC in rush defense (3.81 YPA). Maybe they will be better this year with another year and a very good D-Coordinator, but their performance to date has been mediocre at best.

LSU finished fourth in the SEC in rush "D". Who cares about YPA?
You have teams that finished #9 and #11 in conference in rush "D" ranked as the #2 and #3 DL. How is that possible? If their Dline was that good they should have finished a little higher in that stat.
I think returning starters/two deep and production on the field should carry a lot more weight than YPA given up.
You have bama #1 DL yet, they lose three of their top six players production wise. Lose over 120 tackles and 17 TFL.
LSU returns their entire two deep, 174 tackles, 27 sacks and 45+ TFL.
What does the tide return to justify being the #1 DLin the SEC? Remember though when you lose two all american Dlinemen what that Dline did as a whole last year doesn't really count.

Since LSU couldn't stop anyone of course they are gonna have great stats.

LSU needs to be moved up to fourth behind Bama Tennessee and Florida. We bring back our entire two deep with what will be two guys that will be going in year 3 of starting, a 2nd year starter that had 8 sacks in his first season last year, and a true freshman that had 5 sacks last year that will play standing up and with his hand in the dirt.
The only reason I don't have them above UF is because I don't know UF's situation other than they lost Bullard.

So basically...lets just imagine those yards didn't happen? That's absurd.
Arkansas ran wild on their defense, and numbers reflect that other teams did as well.
I've figured it out though...you're ranking them high becaiuse they held Alabama to 117 yards rushing. That's the only reason I can see. Tennessee was not good against the run last season any way you slice it.

2 SEC teams gave up less than 1,000 rushing yards in conference play last season.
Alabama and Arkansas.
Alabama and Arkansas.

Hopefully the reports of his disruption capabilities are true. If Lawson goes down again, AU has to have that type of presence from someone else.

One is not like the other. Arkansas ranked last in passing D, giving up over 8 yards per attempt, which makes judging Arkansas's dline harder based on rushing D alone.

Well coyuon, you are going to crap your pants when you read this.
LSU and bama had SIX common opponents last year. Want to guess how many of those offenses gained more yards against bama's "D"? I'll give you a little hint.
It was FOUR!!!

George really thinks UGA is gonna suck. If our lines are that bad, we will be 6-6 this year.

Your right. LSU had a much better defense than Bama last year.

I would rate A&M among the top defensive lines.
Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall will both be drafted. Myles could go #1 overall. They have several 4* rated and experienced DE's backing them up (James Lockhart, Qualen Cunningham, and Jarrett Johnson.
The 2 deep at defensive tackle is among the best in the SEC too. Daylon Mack, Zaycoven Henderson, KeKe Kingsley, and Hardreck Walker (all 4* or better) with experience in the trenches last year. Aggies may add former Bama/MSU commit (TD Moton) later this week.
