Coastal has only had a program for 42 years lol
The NCAA tournament has only been around since 1947 (70 years). FSU has made the NCAAT 54 times in those 70 years.
Coastal has had a program 42 years and has made the NCAAT 13 times.
I'm sorry, just because they won a national title last year, they didn't leap frog FSU as a program.

Vanderbilt needs to be above every team that hasn't won a national title.

Yea and coastal has a fraction of the resources and name recognition and won it.
It goes both ways.
It goes both ways.

Those things are what go into being a great program. You're right, it does go both ways, and weighing everything, Coastal is not the program FSU is. One national title doesn't change that. I can't believe y'all are even trying to debate this

???
All but 4 schools were members of the SEC 30 years ago, so not sure exactly what you're talking about.
Not to mention, I did rank A&M if you continue to read the entire post
My post was using a 30 year block that another poster brought up. It also takes into account SEC Regular Season titles, of which the OP does not include. It's more difficult to quantify that for A&M and Missouri because they've only been in the SEC for only 5 years. Not sure why that is hard for you to comprehend

Vandy number 9? We've been to two CWS title games! ??

Is it a question of the coaching staff, young players, freak injuries, or just really bad recruiting for a couple of years?
Coaching staff is in over its head, bats are very talented but very young, pitching is abominable, and recruiting has only just now returned to its old ways under Perno when we were making the CWS every other year.
All told, we need to hire a proven winner and recruit some fricking arms ASAP because our bats should be legit next year

So have we at #7 (won 1, lost 1) but we also have 6 CWS appearances to Vandys 3
It's not a slight against vandy, the SEC is just a stacked baseball conference historically

If I had to choose I'd rather brag about titles than tournament appearances.
Making the tournament is like celebrating being ranked each year.
Yippie.
Also. LSU only had 29 tournament appearances in our long storied history. It's doesn't really mean much.
Making it to the CWS and THEN winning it is mich more important imo.
But yea FSU goes to the World Series a lot and loses. Something to write home about I guess. Lol.

Yea but how many SEC teams have actually won it all?
Isn't it just LSU, USC, UGA and Vandy??

Try to stay focused. One national title does not outweigh 41 straight tournament appearances or 21 trips to Omaha. It just doesn't. I'm sure FSU would love to have a title but it's irrational to say Coastal is a better program because the stars aligned for them last year. Sustained success is what makes a program great, not one grest run.

I didn't say they were in the entire history. But as of recent history. Sure. Easy argument can be made.
Just like USC over LSU recently or Vandy over UF/UGA.

You can't see the difference in winning six like LSU and winning one like Coastal?

Well we're not simply talking about the last 5 years. So now you want to move the goalpost until your point sticks?

My point in the beginning of the thread has always been on recent history. That why I brought up USC.
Lol on the first page and my second post I was pretty clear......

Some things to consider adding to the ranking system....Points for winning a Regional and points for winning a Super Regional.
Obviously, making the NCAAt is a good mark for each program, but giving points for winning once making the NCAAt is an even better mark IMO.
