Wrong.

I think the reason most people knock that team is because of Outzen.

But it's pretty well accepted that 07 LSU is the worst national champion of the BCS era from what I've seen.

I had to list them. Didn't want to appear as though I was denying the truth (that Bama's best team in the history if their program couldn't beat Jordan Jefferson in Bryant-Denny)

And the best team in LSU history couldn't score a single TD against Alabama in 8 quarters.

Not really sure why 1998 Tennessee is so far down everybody's list.

Honestly, the only thing I remember about that team/season was the Stoerner fumble. Didn't FSU play a backup, possibly walk on, ginger QB in the championship game, or am I thinking about when OU beat them a few years later?

Yep. That team got by on grit and effort. Only 32 future NFL players on the roster.

Speaking of which.. Just looked over the roster that led me to this clip.. Pretty powerful stuff.

To be fair, the alleged best Alabama team scored one.

Everyone remember the Stoerner fumble where Arkansas literally gave the game away.

However Tennessee also should have lost the first game of the year against Syracuse but was the beneficrary of a bad call on the final drive of the game.

They were a solid team, but unremarkable, they got some key breaks to go undefeated, and therefore won the championship, hey it happens.

Did you adjust the variables like make both teams run heavy?

Yeah, they almost lost a game to a top 10 team but they didn't. What about teams that lost multiple games, including a game to an unranked opponent at home?

Didn't you hear? Almost losing to a good Arkansas team is worse than actually losing to a bad Arkansas team.

2011 Bama- the defense
2008 UF
2003 LSU
2009 Bama
1998 UT seriously underrated by a lot of people here due their age.
2010 Au- Cam and Nick
2012 Bama- may be to low.
2006 UF
2007 LSU 2 loss team has to be last.

Four teams kept it within 7 points against Tennessee. One of them was 8-0 and a top 10 team, and the other three played in the BCS.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that Alabama and LSU 2011 were both so awesome.

You do realize that when two awesome teams play SOMEBODY has to lose right?

That doesn't make them less awesome.

You get the two most awesome teams in history to play 10 games and it's not going to be 10-0.

I think I remember Bama playing them tough in Neyland until Peerless Price ran a kickoff back for a TD late in the game, then their RB(Graham, maybe) broke off a long TD run a series or two later.

I think the problem is we all get blinded by how atrocious the 1998 UT team was and lose focus on such a great point.

The 1927 Yankees are widely considered to be the best baseball team of all time.

They went 110-44.

OMG how can the greatest team of all time lose 44 games???
