eh, I misphrased. Regardless, a 15 play TD drive isn't lucky. That's my point.

According to most of yall on here for Auburn 12 plays and 88 yards was considered lucky.

Amazing that people still don't understand how the BCS worked..

speaking to a team's luck has nothing to do with the functioning of the bcs.

2009 Iron Bowl? Lucky? We ran the ball down the field on our last drive, not sure how that's considered "lucky."

15 play, 79 yard drive isn't lucky.

Thought AU was lucky to beat Miss St last fall?

2009 Bama

Had to block two FGs against a real bad Tenn team at home to win.
Benefitted from a missed spearing call in the BCSCG game against Texas that knocked out the starting QB.

Had to come from behind against a 5 loss AU team in the final seconds to win the IB

Don't forget the LSU game. Patrick Peterson's obvious interception and the spear to the chest of our QB with the ref literally looking straight at it, and not calling it. Peterson also cramping and sitting out one play, that one play, they threw to Julio who was being covered by a safety, and he made him look stupid.

That 2009 team was lucky as shite!

Also, did anyone else feel that the SEC wanted to get Bama/UF to the conference championship at all costs? Numerous games had referees not calling obvious penalties and wrongfully calling against their opposition. They made damn sure both teams got to the SECCG unscathed.

This is a thread about lucky teams with 2007 being in the title thread right?

2007 LSU
2011 Alabama
2012 Alabama
2013 Auburn
2010 Auburn

Auburn never backs their way into title games like LSU and Alabama.

Many national championship participants need a few bounces on-the-field, and low amounts of injuries to key players.

Every National Championship team needs these

2013 AUs team might have backed into the Championship game, but no undefeated SEC Teams can be accused of backing in. Remember UF lost to AU in 2006 and LSU 2003 also had a loss early in the season.

Getting a rematch for NC after losing at your stadium. You can't get luckier than that.

I figured people would respond that way. 2011 wasn't the first time there was a rematch in the national championship nor was it the first time a non-conference champion competed in the national championship. Alabama had some unprecedented fortune that season, but in reality they only depended on Oklahoma State and maybe Oregon losing to make it there. Why should Oklahoma State not be penalized for losing to 6-6, unranked Iowa State?

Before someone talks about the psychological disadvantage of a rematch between good teams, I'd like you to revisit the 1999, 2003, and 2010 SEC Championships. Those rematches weren't arranged, but the team that narrowly won the first matchup blew out that same opponent in the rematch.

I guess you don't remember #2 Ohio St. choking in their conference championship.
