The LBs were hot garbage though.
If we can get just average LB play this year I think our defense has the potential to be very good. The DL should continue to get better and has been talked about on here quite a bit and our secondary is underrated IMO. The LB unit needs to prove it though and I'm not optimistic about it after the last few years. I hope I'm wrong

Heupel even announced PUBLICLY in an interview for everyone to hear that his offense was "based off of the illusion of the QB run game".
Our argument aside, let's all stop and laugh at Heupel for a second.
That's like when Ryan Lochte said "I'd be the Michael Phelps of swimming if not for Michael Phelps."

I'd take notes if I were you.

Me too, but I feel the same way. 0 faith in our LBers.

It's the depth that's really concerning, especially with Walker now gone. I think Washington-Alaka-Moore is a decent combo but they can't play every snap and injuries are going to happen

Good observations.
People laugh but the defense carried the team last year. The offense was a mess.

Yeah the Bama game is the only A&M game I remember watching last year. I thought both sides were kind of a mess in the 1st half. Bama was running on them at will, while mixing in some short passes. Then Kelly got hurt at the end of the 1st half and Bama couldn't do anything offensively in the 2nd half.
The 2 pick sixes in the 1st half didn't really help though, obviously.

From what I've read, Walker wasn't even in the 2 deep of the LB rotation. George, Dodson, and even Gillaspia had jumped ahead of him. I feel a lot better about the LB depth than I did last year for sure.

It really sounded like Walker was going to be looking for time on special teams.

What concerns me is that Damion Ratley is starting. I understand Speedy being suspended, but Tabuyo is faster, more reliable, and has better hands.

He is, but Ratley must just be one of those Practice Kings who look awesome in practice but crumble in games. The guy is a Drop King in games, but he must be so over-awing in practice that the coaches forget.

He is constantly open. If he gets over the drop problem, people will see why he's in there.

And you will? Our defense was as good or better than yours was last year, and return just as many players.
Congrats you had a defense almost as good as one coached by arguably the worst DC in the conference.

Our defense was better last year.

Our defense was better last year.
Marginally in scoring defense, not in yards per play or total defense.
But again, congrats on basically on being on par with a guy we all agree was and is a shite DC.

But yet you're expecting LSU to magically morph into a top defense this year? With a first year coordinator?

Upperclassman at QB for the first time in the Sumlin era.

This was from last week:
We'll find out soon enough if it translates to actual games.

And that's not mentioning the improvement of Damion Ratley who seems to have put the hands issues from last year behind him. He's had a good camp along with freshman Aaron Hansford who could be the biggest surprise of the freshman class up to this point.

Well of course we are "expecting". Just like your expecting Knight to throw for 3000 yards and 25 TDs.

You're an air-raid team. He needs to be quite a bit better than "average".
