The other big problem was OU wouldn't let Knight run the ball because they were scared of him getting hurt. And running is one of his strengths. I mean they were running a zone read offense, without letting the QB run at all. Of course it didn't work. That's why Heupel is no longer there.

Who is a victim here? I am a fan of a team that has a badass OC. I am anything but a victim. I am pointing out that you look like a sour grapes loser for nitpicking elements of his performance when the overall job the guy did for you guys was fantastic.

If the Aggies are expecting the defense to carry them this season I will have to change my predictions for them. Until they prove they can stop the running game they won't compete with the big boys of the SEC

Your fellow TAMU fans just spent this entire thread saying (quite convincingly) that you aren't an air raid. I don't think you are either.
Are we the Mike Leach Air Raid? As in THE Air Raid? No. But we are using fundamentally the same philosophy. To me, it is splitting hairs and arguing semantics to argue that A&M isn't going to be, broadly speaking, an air raid team.

The route concepts are the same but we run the ball a lot more than the traditional air raid and it looks like we will be using in line blockers and two back sets even more this year than last. As far as the personnel we line up with and the run pass splits we are much different from the Air Raid IMO but it's really splitting hairs

Refusing to allow a QB to run in a zone read offense doesn't constitute misuse? That's completely asinine and counter to logic, but that was OU's offense when Knight was QB. A zone read offense where the QB was told not to run. This is exactly what I mean by saying you are one of the most football-dumb posters on this website.

And last year's defense was not bad. We had major LB problems, due to injury which caused most of the problems with stopping the run.
I re-watched the Bama/A&M game last night, and this is pretty spot on from that game. I had forgotten how the secondary really brought the wood and played really physical in that game. And the D-line came really close to winning the game for A&M when Bama lost Kelly(C) to a concussion. They were penetrating the center of the line on every play in the 2nd half.
The LBs were hot garbage though.

This is the 8th thread on him this week. Can we just let the first game pass first?

This is all actually very true. Read up, Mizzou fans.

It is splitting hairs. THE Air Raid (trademark, Mike Leach) differs from ours in that it is a one back offense with REALLY wide splits. Our splits will be narrower, we'll do more diamond and pistol, and we'll try to run the ball more frequently, but the fundamental philosophy, the route concepts, and a lot of the plays are the same. The other stuff is window dressing. Coaches tend to talk up the window dressing to make their work and their offense and themselves sound unique, but really they're just ripping each other off (with permission and even glee on the part of the originators).

I agree AGAIN. Heupel even announced PUBLICLY in an interview for everyone to hear that his Z/R offense was "based off of the illusion of the QB run game". That's why we fired Heupel. (Read up Mizzou fans)
Still doesn't change the fact that he has no accuracy, and he won't at ATM. He's a WR.

You talk more about Knight than your own team.
What a loser
