*Miami has potential to be competitive again, but I also don't think they'll ever come close again to the Miami of the 1980s.

*Notre Dame also has potential, but its become very obvious during the last 25 years that their glory days are over.

These 3 programs will in all likelihood never attain the level they once enjoyed.... joining the likes of other long-lost football powers such as Minnesota and Army.

Penn State has in all likelihood seen their best days, but they never quite got to as dominant of a level as the three mentioned above, so I think they've got a better shot of at least getting back to where they were. But its an uphill battle there too.

Penn State is the one I would bet the most on getting back to a competitive level. Nebraska has too much of a history of "3 yards and a cloud of dust" in a state with too few recruits. Private schools will never again be able to sustain excellence. Too much of a numbers game. (Plus, they tend to do stupid stuff like prioritize academics.)

See, this where you just sound like an idiot. From the time I started A&M in 1985 until the late 90's, A&M rattled off 7 conference championships in 14 years. I'll admit the last few years in the SWC were not the stiffest competition, but A&M pretty much dominated it, and the 80's (and 1998) was a different story with regard to the competition

LOL

Yea, tough to top 1976-1979 + 1992 for Alabama (and a solid but not spectacular 1980's).

1996-2016 included the incredible Saban run and some good years in 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2005 but the years of 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007 were trash.

This really is compelling evidence as to why atm has trolled the daylights outta LSU since pretty much day one in the sec.

One good thing to say about em though is at least they knew who to go after.

We won 5 in a row, and 6 of the last 7. You cancelled the contract and welched on paying the damages in the contract.

We dominated you, just like you have dominated us since we got here. I can admit that.

With an Aggie as HC, no less. Sorry about that.

I can't belive you aggy tards are going to make me post this again.

quote:

LSU cancelled the series with two games remaining after the 1995 game in College Station.

That move sparked some friction between the schools, which contributed to them not renewing the series. With the SEC going to a divisional format and eight conference games in 1992, then-LSU Athletic Director Joe Dean said he couldn't afford to give up one of three non-conference home games every year.

"You've almost got to have seven home games to pay the bills," Dean said. "That's all it was. Some of the A&M people felt because we were losing to them we didn't want to play anymore.

"It was peaceful, friendly. It wasn't ugly. I thought we'd wait a few years and reschedule them when we could manipulate the home-and-home series with the SEC."

Crow had a different point of view.

"I said, 'Get out of another (game)' because this game means too much for us,'" Crow said. "We would sell the stadium out for LSU. Them and Texas were only ones we did that."

LSU eventually refused to play the final two games and the schools settled the matter for $100,000. Attempts by LSU to renew the series have been rebuffed, insiders say, because of lingering hard feelings over breaking the contract.

I wish that other LSU fans would see this list and realize who we were and who we are now. I never thought I would see the day when LSU fans would complain about a 10 win season. I remember being excited to play in the independence bowl, getting drummed by florida and bama on the reg, "upsetting" arkansas in the game after denardo was fired. It's crazy. Straight up crazy. It will come to an end someday, and people will look back on how good it was.

Sorry, nothing against you. It's just what always comes to my mind when I see a bama fan breaking out a buncha stats nobody but bama fans care about or take time to actually read... and I'm man enough to admit there may be a slight bit of jealousy spurring it on too.

Besides, you're getting good vengeance for me posting that... it's getting downvote to death.
