Too much apathy from a lot of the fans too.

If the rest of the SEC treated half of their games like the Kentucky game the conference would improve massively.

A&M should build theirs to compete at the top of the conference. With their resources, they have no good excuses.
Why? Their program's history, even compared to the rest of the mediocre SEC, is weak. There is a ton of in-state talent, but A&M is never going to be the premier in-state destination for the recruits that decide to stay in-state. Their facilities aren't bad but aren't anything special, and the majority of their fanbase doesn't give a shite.

Missouri has a good program but I highly doubt they're going to elevate the conference. They'll fit in well with the UT's, Bama's, and LSU's of the SEC.

They treat it like their teams Super Bowl. It is always one of the rare sell outs on each teams schedule.

The best atmosphere I have witnessed at a game in Tuscaloosa is the 2 times we have played Kentucky.

I see what you're saying, but I don't see that game being different than any other rival/highly ranked opponent as far as the atmosphere.

In fact, the UK game is usually the tamest of the "big" games at TBA because of the thousand or so UK fans that are there.

I think the atmosphere at TBA has been better for Florida, Memphis, Vandy, Texas, Kansas, Ohio State, and even last season against Mizzou than I can ever remember it being for a UK game.

Last year I believe it was our 3rd highest attended game of the season.

I realize this, but Tennessee is sort of an exception to what I said because they along with Kentucky are really the only schools that regularly sell out their games

I see what you're saying conference wide. Only time you see places like Auburn Arena filled up. To me, UK games are easily the worst of the big games at TBA though. A lot of blue hairs coming to one game a year plus the CatVols who put on their blue for a game.

Fan support follows success. It's not the other way around.

The historically decent programs in the SEC simply haven't been stable lately. LSU, Mississippi State, UT, Arkansas, and Missouri have all made coaching changes within the past three years. Grant is still a fairly young coach at Alabama, as well. All of those programs can be successful with the right coach.

Mizzou will finish upper half almost every year and will compete for the top spot more than the bottom spot, neither of which will happen often. They'll probably make the tourney 7 out of 10 years or so.

A&M's program is much better historically that what people saw last year. They currently have to figure out what they're head coach is all about but given time, they'll get there as well.

Have got to eliminate those bad OOC losses and with the exception of a few schools, strengthen those OOC schedules. Last year was a bit of an anomaly with all the relatively new head coaches. Off the top of my head, UF and Vandy had the only truly established coaches as far as tenure at their current school. I think this year the SEC will get a solid 5 in the tourney and possibly a 6th.

I'll add Martin to that list. He'll make some schools lives hell before he's done and earn some tourney appearances at the same time.

Depends on your definition of elevate the conference. Adding Mizzou certainly isn't like adding a UNC or Duke to the conference but it is adding a team that will make the tourney in most years that the conference didn't have before.

I predict LSU and UT will both be ranked when they meet in January.
