None.the only teams worth adding are non starters.

Texas because of the LHN and the fact they are redundant with aTm already here.

OU because they are tied OSU.

None of the other teams are even close to being worth adding. Possibly ku, but they are borderline and also tied to Kansas St

If the SEC expands, it should be Virginia and NC or bust. If not, stay put.

I say we add Texas, Oklahoma, OK State, and West Virginia but kick Arkansas and Mizzou out.

Why would you want to make the conference worse?

I can't believe people actually want WVU or TCU.

Take TCU and Baylor. Let Texas and the other power brokers in the Big 12 go west. PAC 12 here they come !!!

We already have enough awful academic institutions. No need to dumb up the conference even more.

As to the OP's question: There is not a school out there that would help with Tier III rights. Goal 1 should be, and probably is, grabbing a school from NC and one from Virginia.

If you strike out there, then maybe you look at other options. But teams from Kansas, Oklahoma, etc, are not desirable because of not enough footprint gain. Especially if you have to take 2 of them from 1 state (ie OU/OSU).

If shite starts up for re-alignment the power conferences need to powwow and put something together that makes sense based on geographical and time zone considerations, having teams from the east coast travelling west to another time zone and vice versa for the west teams to the east is dumb, this aint the NFL yet!
There are enough good teams in the top 70 D1 FB programs to make up 4 conferences with 16 teams. Some programs will be pissed but this needs to happen, it will be better for the fans and the teams by minimizing these long road games across the country.

What on earth would that bring besides a smaller piece of the pie? They're small "Christian" universities. They don't move the needle at all.

If it comes to it, I think it would be more about defending turf. When the Big 12 collapses, other power conferences will be grabbing at teams and we will probably counter to balance the power. Who knows though, maybe the big 12 can somehow limp along... kind of like that blind, matted stray cat that refuses to die

Essentially, the question would be do you let the Pac-12 take Texas, OU, OSU, and Texas Tech, or do you try to do something to throw a monkey wrench in that deal? Of course, that sort of presumes that the LHN has been killed off because the Pac-12 isn't putting up with that crap, either, but, assuming it did, I think the SEC would be more interested in preventing a Big 10 move into the southeast (Jim Delaney would take UNC, UVA, Georgia Tech and probably Duke, in a heartbeat, to solve the Big 10's demographic problems) than worrying about the Pac-12 capitalizing on a presence in Texas. If you're playing defense, heading off the Big 10 is where you focus, not looking out west.

I wanted to rustle your jimmes. Also, I've hated including Arkansas in the SEC from day one.

I actually like Mizzou, I just think they're a poor fit in this conference. They make much more sense in the Big 10. Personally, I think Oklahoma is a poor fit as well. UT and West Virginia are the only true natural fits in the Big 12. UT would come into the conference with 2 natural rivals in A&M and Arkansas (and to a lesser extent LSU).

West Virginia would have an outstanding rivalry with Kentucky and probably Tennessee. We could even make an Appalachian Trail trophy that goes to the best head to head record between Tennessee, Vandy, Kentucky, and West Virginia (like the Armed Forces Trophy).

A&M will blackball any one from Texas , go east to NC.
That's where our network is located.

OU isn't OU anymore. They looked lost against Clemson. They drop 2 to 3 games a year that they shouldn't lose almost every year now. They're Georgia without the recruiting base and without the TVs.

So take two of the historically least popular and worst performing schools out of the B12? Literally almost any 2 other teams have more upside. Both just happen to be better now.

I'm ok with TCU just to give the west an easy win.

TCU ... Baylor?

Some of you need to check out metrics other than fleeting football success.

Athletic department rankings
Attendance
Research funding and expenditures
Academic ratings
Legalities related to the inclusion of private institutions of higher ed

Expansion ought to carefully explored, and teams should be thoroughly vetted.
It's about much more than a few football wins in a mediocre, toothless conference.

They have literally no understanding what the motivations for expansion are.

Or maybe we did not like taking subpar big 12 cast offs that lose to Indiana merely for market share.
