Ole Miss clearly only cheated when recruiting QBs, WRs, and LTs.

At what point does it say in there that they had transcripts of these phone calls.....and it never mentioned anything other than text messages recommending RR. So nothing nefarious really right there to be collaborated.

Then you do have this:

quote:

On April 2016, the enforcement staff football development group received information that institutional representatives provided significant impermissible recruiting inducements to ****. On July 28, 2016, the enforcement staff requested limited immunity on **** behalf, which was granted August 1, 2016. On August 10, 2016, the enforcement staff's investigative team initially interviewed **** and later interviewed him again concerning this case November 18 and December 13, 2016.

Wonder who the person is that gave them this tip? Mississippi is a relatively small state and the recruiting circuit/HS football fans is pretty close group. We all know pretty much who did what and a bunch of people are pretty disappointed he did it....not just Ole Miss fans. I imagine that all the recruiting shenanigans are done for quite some time now or if you are smart you will stop.

Every report has stated that it was a non-SEC source.

I heard Florida State, but I'm sure there are other names out there

The NCAA documents (can't remember if it is the NOA or the response) straight out says the tip came from someone not affiliated with a SEC program yet many OM people still push the narrative that State did it. Really bizarre.

The question is what quantifies as "someone not affiliated with an SEC program". Does that mean someone who isn't employed by a program? Someone that isn't classified as Booster?

There are plenty of guesses and within HS circles they all point one way. Plus we all know of other things that have gone on and generally it is a wink, a nod and a unwritten rule that no one talks. I don't think people are going to be so willing to keep their mouths shut anymore and thank God after this year I won't be around it anymore.

Not gonna lie, the statement seemed strange enough to almost be a cover for the true culprit. If I was an OM fan I would be suspicious of how they were so deliberate in saying that it was a non-SEC school. But that is what they said

Yea, you seemed a little tight today, ABFNMS. Way too quick going loud and dropping bombs. That's not your MO.

Get some scotch and chillax

Ole Miss has a 50/50 chance of getting off without a two year bowl ban but
additional penalties are almost guaranteed with further reductions in scholarships
and increased recruiting restrictions. The factor of how crippling this would be to
Oxford itself may sway the COI towards a little leniency. I look for Mullen to move
on after this year. The impression that he offered up the Leo Lewis testimony,
whether true or not, has poisoned the well.

The public perception that Freeze was some rampant cheater is interesting considering how many high profile defensive recruits that Ole Miss was beat out for. Their defensive absolutely sucks this year. Like Texas Tech bad.

But hey, narratives.

You have to be a ED poster....because you are just as bad, if nor worse than, those syphilis infected pricks. I bet you are right now staking out the Tunsil house in Taylor waiting to break some more juicy gossip.

Honestly just putting them in a position where they can no longer rampantly break the rules is the equivalent to major penalties for a major program.

-No more competitive 85 man rosters
-No championship game appearances
-[desirable] Bowl Ban

Even without any penalties the penalized early the 2000s Alabama (pre Saban) is their ceiling

It doesn't take a genius to figure out he didn't recruit defense. Dude had what, 20-25 wide receivers on schollie?

Ole Miss is looking at 3 year bowl ban, 25-30 schollys, 3-4 year probation and 1-3 more show-causes. I didnt realize they self-imposed all that..

I'm impressed.

Even when top tier programs cheat they don't sign the top player nationally at every position, of course they still get beat out for recruits.

When an uninspiring ole miss program (7-6) signs the top player in Illinois, Georgia, and Florida after signing the 48th ranked class the year before it raises eyebrows.

Every one said it, and everyone was right.

This years Egg Bowl might end with some dead folks if this thread is any indication. Gonna be brutal.

If everything I've heard from legitimate, non-message board or opposing fan sources is even remotely true - the hammer is going to be dropped on OM. Just no way around it at this point for the NCAA, especially if they want any sort of power going forward. Anyone that's the least bit objective can see it coming for that reason alone.

Lewis, Jones, Miller, Mullen, Robertson, Sheridan, Duncan and possibly Wolken and Forde still have to give depositions (under oath) in the Rebel Rags lawsuit. Expect Merkel to supoena transcript of the COI hearing. These depositions can be taken into consideration by the COI.
