the shitbag OPD that hovers the square arresting everyone that's had a drink gives a really bad name to ones like the guy that pulled me over and let me go after I blew a .08.
Thank you, Officer Guy-that-let-me-go-after-blowing-a-.08-at-3am.
ETA: I had just shotgunned a beer right before I left...If he had pulled me over 5 minutes later, I would have been spending the night in the pen.

It may have changed over the last decade but my advice to Ole Miss students has always been:
1. OPD = Bad. They will ruin your fun.
2. Lafayette County Sheriffs Department = Good. Unless you act the arse they will just try to make sure you keep it cool and safe.

True story. The one time I saw SPD doing something outrageous. They had pulled over a kid who had been smoking. He passed his breathalyzer and aparently failed the other test so the cop started cuffing him. There are like 6 cop cars pulling in, one is rolling through the stop sign. We are on the balcony of what was then Ptolemy's in the cotton district, a guy yells "frick you". Cop proceeds to park his car at the intersection, gets out, and storms up to the balcony demanding we tell him who did it. Guy fesses up and says i yelled but did't yell that.
So now the cop just lays into him, crawling his arse and says "we aren't out here laying our lives on the line every day for shite heads like you to yell curses at us". Dillon Day looks at the cop, then looks to everyone there and says "holy shite, apparently cops are dying in the streets of starkville now, I owe this man a shot". Cop doesn't say a word, walks down the stairs, hops in the car and moves on.

Got one at .04 2 weeks before I turned 21. Pulled over leaving the Bin by Brian Kelly's cousin. He referred me to Kelly as an attorney, who is also the owner of the Bin. All of this was probably coincidental but it pissed me off and seemed sketchy as frick.

I used to live off of South 16th and, for obvious reasons, would walk home after drinking at the Square.
More than once I would be walking down Pierce Avenue, minding my own business, when I would get harassed by OPD slugs with nothing better to do.
Once, they asked me had I been drinking and where I was going. I told them that I had not (lie) and that I was going just down the road. They said they didn't believe me and instead of giving me a ride to my house (no more than half of a mile from the location), they followed behind me in a police cruiser while I walked home. They didn't believe that I was actually walking to my house in residential Oxford on a spring night while dressed like I was coming from the Square.
I saw a kid get roughed up and tazed in front of Rooster's once. He was very drunk, I will give OPD that, but all he did was trip over a cop who was leaning on a post with his feet jutted in the middle of the sidewalk. They swarmed on him like a friggin' runningback.
fricking dicks. frick OPD.

This thread isn't evidence of an Ole Miss obsession. They're just giving you shite.
The two players arrested were projected starters at an SEC school, so it warrants posting.

Seems like a good way to discourage repeat business.

OPD let me go after I passed out on a bench in front of irie and then after being woken up gave him my Kroger card instead of my drivers liscence. I was actually in cuffs and sitting on his back seat when my friend convinced him to let me take a cab home right then. That friend will be my best man in my wedding for real.
I've seen them do outrageous things though so im an outlier.

It's just that it is almost always Skirp that starts these kinds of threads involving Ole Miss. The obsession is real, although I agree this probably should be posted either way.

I am appalled at the behavior of these young men.

Not all of them are bad, I'm sure. I'm glad you didn't get a nasty PI though.
I love the cop defenders on this board: "don't break the law and you won't have anything to worry about."
That's a fricking wonderful thought process. Remember, your government knows what's best for you.
