LSU would have raped them American History X style.... That game would NOT have been pretty!!!

The day before the Iowa State game was the Okie State womens basketball plane crash....so it is conceivable that the team wasn't in the best mental state to play the game.

bullshite excuse. Unless the coaching staff decided to huddle all the players up and start talking about the plane crash in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

They were up 24-7 with 10 minutes to go in the 3rd.

But that was the kind of shite we all heard for the next month and a half.

Preach.

LSU's "weak" offense scored over 40 points NINE times that year. It is remarkable how stupid some people can be when they look back on a season through the lens of the last game played.

If Alabama doesn't win that game, 2011 LSU would have CONSISTENTLY been mentioned as the greatest national champion team since 95 Nebraska. Since they lost it, now they are somehow a suspect team with no offense

They had a suspect offense during the season. I remember watching the SECCG when they were losing to UGA laughing. They had 0 first downs in the first half, and 12 total yards. LSU 2011 was a great defensive team with great special teams, which gave them short fields and they took full advantage.

They scored 40 points against UGA with 237 yards of total offense. Their QBs combined for 21 TD passes in 14 games. 57th in total offense and 106th in passing yards per game.

They had a good running game, well below average passing game, A+ D and A special teams.

Y'all were #86 in total offense.

People forget all the short fields that offense worked with. Brad wing dropping punts inside the 5 all year then defense would get a stop followed by a 45 yard td drive for the offense. The numbers don't show elite offense, but they were incredibly efficient

According to ESPN, 2011 LSU was 57th in offense based on yards, but 17th in scoring.

Maybe the dumbass should have campaigned a little harder back then. The stage was too big for them and he didn't know how to handle it.

My favorite quote from TD is from when LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma State's fans were chanting that they wanted each other. LSU's "We want Bama" chant made sense. But "LSU" wouldn't fit in that so Alabama and Oklahoma State fans had to just chant "L-S-U". Oklahoma State just crushed Oklahoma and their fans were chanting "L-S-U". Someone here posted "Oklahoma State fans chanting L-S-U is like white mice chanting python."

Bull shite excuse.

So if Alabama had to play a game after the 2011 tornadoes, it wouldn't have affected their mental state one bit?

It was a traumatic event. How is that a bad excuse?

Why did the trauma only set in during the middle of the third quarter? They showed no ill effect for the first 35 minutes of the game.

So when the head coach of a team (arguably the singularly biggest fan of all) says he thinks the team would have won, he is a tool.

but when you, an LSU fan, say the opposite, you're what exactly?

It would have been nice to see the game. It also would have been nice to see a 3 team playoff, with OKST playing Bama for the right to play LSU. But there is no reason to believe OKST could not have won by 3 TDs any more than LSU could have held OKST scoreless and pounded OKST D into the ground.

It would have been a completely different game than the title we got, LSU and Alabama seem to have an ongoing gentlemen's agreement to never call aggressive offensive plays unless losing with fewer than 5 minutes left in the game.

Perhaps in the first half, the emotion and adrenaline worked in a positive way, and the second half the emotion got the best of them? Pretty simple concept, no?

LSU didn't have many yards to gain in 2011. Half their drives seemed to start in + territory and the offense was incredibly efficient. LSU's running game was a beast that got stronger as the game went along. LSU destroyed teams in the 2nd half.

It's amazing how the trauma, adrenaline, and emotion affected all 22 guys the same exact way at the same exact time.

Must be like when girls hang out together and their periods sync up.

57th in total yards, 86th in yards per game.

And 17th in scoring, which is the main point of an offense, and much more relevant to the question of whether a team could beat them by three touchdowns.

Telling the truth? Pointing out the obvious? Saying something remotely credible?

I expect he meant before the bowl game. After the bowl game LSU fell to 17th nationally in scoring (from your link)

No way OK State wins that game. LSU stymied 2 OOC offensive juggernauts in Oregon and West Virginia that year. Oregon scored late in garbage time and WVU put up yards but no points.

The Honey Badger alone, was worth a TD per game and he and Wing affected field position tremendously. No need for a high flying attack. LSU would have pounded that terrible OKState run defense.
