This dude is such a tool! No Mike, no y'all would not have. Would have been lucky to score 3 TD's. Oregon and West Virgina could score on anybody as well.

With the worst run defense in the country?

Nope.

Stanford was averaging 10 ypc until they stopped trying.

That made me curious, so I went back and checked. 2011 OSU played 5 ranked teams:

Oklahoma - blowout, 44-10.
Texas - solid win, 12 point game.
K State - 7 point game
A&M - one point game
Stanford - overtime, 3 point win.

Shut the frick up, Gundy.

I am so glad he never got the chance. That was Okie St's once in a lifetime moment.

The ESPN comment section after the rankings were released was my first time witnessing a pure melt. Good times

Could say the same thing about Ohio State this year (Wisky blowout, solid win @ MSU, 7 point win @Minny, close against PSU and were losing to Indiana at home late in the 3rd quarter). I mean just because a team doesn't win by 30 points doesn't mean they aren't vastly superior. That is how upsets happen.

Edit: I'm not supporting Gundy's prediction but to just decide LSU would win is laughable, as laughable as Gundy guaranteeing a 3td win

I completely agree, but you seem to be assuming that last year's Ohio State team was clearly vastly superior to everyone, and that's not remotely true. They played outstanding football toward the end of the season, peaked at the right time, and earned the title. But that was not a great Ohio State team when compared to other champions.

While I agree that you can't go on previous scores against other opponents to reliably predict outcomes, what other basis can we use to refute an idiotic claim that Ok St would have won by 3 touchdowns? Or better yet, turn the tables - on what basis would ANYONE other than an Ok St person make such a claim?

Only if you had one of the greatest defenses in the modern era. No other team that year was able to shut out LSU, and only one other game saw LSU score less than 19 points - once again, against Alabama.

Okie State's offense was one of the best in the country that season with Weeden and those receivers.

The day before the Iowa State game was the Okie State womens basketball plane crash....so it is conceivable that the team wasn't in the best mental state to play the game.

But they would have put points up against LSU no doubt. The lowest score they had all season was 30, while averaging 48 over the season.

LSU wasn't exactly a world beater on offense that season.

I do think Okie wins the game, but not by 3 TD's.
