IIRC, Ok St. won partially because Jordan Williamson (Stanford's kicker) missed a couple really easy kicks. I might be wrong though. Regardless, Gundy is an idiot.

Dorsey, Leak, McElroy, McCarron, Flynn

You don't need an elite QB to win in college.

I think McCarron was actually pretty close to elite, but you can definitely add Craig Krenzel to your list. All those guys were just in the last 15 years too. If you have great skill players, and a great O line, your QB just has to avoid mistakes most of the time.

(At least I tell myself that to try and convince my brain UGA can compete next year )

I realize he had a lot of talent around him, but AJ McCarron left Tuscaloosa with 77 TD passes to 15 INTs and led the nation in passing efficiency in 2012. He is one of two quarterbacks in SEC history to toss 30+ TDs and less than 4 INTs in a single season.

In terms of passer efficiency rating, his 2012 season was the third most efficient in the conference's history behind Cam Newton in 2010 and Danny Wuerffel in 1995. I'd say AJ was an elite QB in college.

Here is a completely unbiased view of 2011 LSU.... Plenty of talent on offense, but 2 dogshit quarterbacks and hamstrung by miles' conservative style.

They had arguably the second or third greatest defense in modern college football history, a punishing and physical running game, and the best special teams in the nation. Additionally, that team certainly had that "it" factor and played like a team of destiny. The only team in 2011 that could stay on the field with the LSU Tigers was the Alabama Crimson Tide, and vice versa.

you realize dorsey and maccarron were heisman runner ups, and mcelroy and flynn made nfl rosters. there was a huge difference between those guys you mention and Lee/Jefferson. LSU's qb's were bad by any standard, the guys you listed were good(flynn, mcelroy, leak) to great(dorsey, maccarron) college quarterbacks, but didn't have NFL talent.

2011 LSU absolutely had one of the all time greatest combos of defense and special teams, but their 2 weaknesses(Miles and qb) reared their ugly head in the BCS title game, in a performance that was beyond pathetic.

That team would've been obliterated by LSU or Bama.

Who led the SEC in qb efficiency in 2011?

Oh yeah, it was Lee...

You're way out of your league here.

Which is easy to do when you only have 167 attempts. Compare that to Tyler Wilson who had 438.

IF a, what a. Nobody knows. Most of you on here are judging LSU in that NC game. None of you are even considering there 2011 season yet all of you are putting up stats what OK State did throughout their season in 2011. LSU did beat Alabama in the regular season. Every game is different, NOBODY KNOWS!!!

People are quick to forget the season that Lee was having leading up to the Bama game:

98-155, 1250 YDS, 13 TD's, 1 INT

He threw 2 quick INT's and Jefferson was now available to play and we all know the rest of the story.

that is the stat line of an unexceptional game manager if ever there was one.
