It was a bad interview, I'll grant you that but there was no way for him to win that. The dude is sick and doesn't need this bs. I highly doubt he was going to be able to fix everything anyway- maybe new blood will be energizing to the program. Let him go and thank him for the years. He's been a damn good coach.

That's awful. He has been a very solid coach. Damn.
I feel bad for Mizzou.

I wish him the best. He was a worthy adversary and classy coach in the SEC championship game.

he didn't need to "win" he needed to do the right thing, which he didn't, so yes, that should follow him around.

he doesn't need any thanks, he got well paid to win zero championships at Mizzou, I hope his health improves and he lives a long time, staying on the beach in FL, and telling his stories about "bowl seasons" and "don james" to anyone who's a big enough dolt to listen to him.

Prayers sent for full recovery. I hope the students see the wrong in all their actions and find some sense about themselves. Grow up and stop causing trouble for others because life is not perfect. Wish the best for coach Pinkel and Missouri.

Come on man. This shite show happens and all of the sudden now he wants to step down for health reasons? It may very well be part of it, but if this doesn't happen, Pinkel would not be announcing this right now

I don't know if any current events shifted his plans it might have been Flip Saunders's sudden death from the same thing

you don't know much about Pinkel, he has been dodgeing the reality of his idiotic decisions non stop, he'll go out the door claiming he "did the right thing", even though everybody knows he didn't.

Pinks can't handle the truth.

Given that the statement mentioned his plans changing after his last PET scan, I actually kind of hope your tight for Pinkel's sake.

it's good news, but he'll do nothing to change the narrative that he "did the right thing" supporting his players and getting the President fired

What would you have done in his shoes? Cut the team and turn Missouri into SMU?

So sorry to read this. All the best to Pinkel and his family.

Mizzou fans have had a shitty week. Feel for you guys.

this is the stupid notion that persists in the sports talk circuit, showing what dimwits most are, like there are only two possible choices, go all in on the player strike or cut the entire team.

Very sorry to hear this. Pinkel has been a damn good coach for Mizzou doing more with less for a long time. Prayers out for him and his loved ones.

I always liked Pinkel and really hate to hear this, but I hope he beats his battle with Lymphoma.

ou truly are a massive piece of shite. The statement from Pinkel pretty clearly maps out that he's still fighting cancer and with all that was going on he couldn't keep managing it.

Sitting here calling it spin and still talking shite about the man. You're easily one of the worst posters on this site.

He's calling out the USJW administration, not assailing Pinkel. That's how I read it, anyway.

Apparently he told the Board of Curators in one of the closed meetings earlier this week. So the timeline actually fits. PET scan 10/27, decision made 10/27, informs BOC at earliest opportunity when he can get in front of them.

I'm sure the shite-storm didn't help, but all the inside guys are saying it actually is about the cancer. Frick cancer.

And frick all these damn protesters/organizers/agitators. Every last one of them.

God Speed, Gary. And thank you.
