If they had Bamas schedule then yes. Probably one or two losses even with that.

In fairness there are similar situations for SEC teams that squeaked out wins they should have won handily in the top 4-5.

In a one game setting, I would take any of the top 6 in the SEC over Notre Dame.

I imagine Vegas would as well.

Bama's two toughest games this year were against LSU and Georgia

Excluding the one team that actually managed to BEAT Alabama? I guess when Sumlin made their asses quit, the game stopped being so tough for them.

Purdue, BYU, and Pitt are all mediocre teams that should have beaten ND but choked.

The only one of those teams that maybe should have beaten ND is Pitt (and, of course, they didn't). Just because BYU (ND without Golson) and Purdue were close games does not mean ND didn't deserve to win them. Regardless, it doesn't matter how you do it, going undefeated against a top-40 schedule is very impressive and extremely impressive (I believe ND's was somewhere in the 20s or lower 30s). You can't bring your best every game, and when you're a top opponent, the other team always does. Just win, it's college football.

Their QB is equivalent to Jeff Driskel - so talented, but not winning them games on his own.

Driskel 140-216 (64%) 3 INT 1471 yards 11 TD
108 rushes, 409 yards, 4 TD

Golston 166-282 (58%) 5 INT 2135 yrads 11 TD
89 rushes, 305 yards, 5 TD

And that was against much weaker competition.

Tyler Eiffert is their best pass catcher. The only other partial threat they have is TJ Jones. Compare them to UF's anemic offense:

Eiffert - 44 rec 624 yards 4 TD
Jordan Reed - 44 rec 552 yards 3 TD

TJ Jones - 43 rec 559 yards 4 TD
Quinton Dunbar - 31 rec 306 yards 4 TD

Very similar.

Manti T'eo is the best ILB in the country right now based on scout's projections, but there are plenty of extremely talented LB's in the SEC that are equally talented. Jones, Minter, Mosely, Ogletree, etc...

They have a good center, that might go in the 4th or 5th round, and a couple DB's that'll go 3rd or 4th round maybe, but thats about it.

So what I'm trying to say is, ND has a decently talented team, especially by their recent standards, but that offense is not going to score a lot on Alabama. The only way they win is if defense and special teams play out of their mind and Alabama makes mistakes (like the FG block against UGA).

negative. ND couldn't hang with LSU even if they don't have the smartest coach in the world. Our talent alone is some of the best in the country. Coaching edge to kelly. talent landslide to LSU

I can remember that Sugar Bowl when LSU smoked ND. Was the records the same, can't remember ND's losses.

Oops proofreading. One should have been difficult, the other impressive. You choose which one you want where.

Notre Dame is a good football team, but they wouldnt be top 4 in the SEC.

Bama, LSU, UGA, and UF would all beat them IMO. I think TAMU would beat them too. USCe would be a close match up as well.

They're dangerous in a one game setting, sure. I don't see them competing week in and week out this year.

Exactly that is what people fail to understand. Any good team may beat an SEC team on a Saturday night but what makes the SEC tough is this.

Play LSU
then Bama
Then Georgia
Then Auburn (ok I was joking here )
then USC

It is the week in and week out grind that makes the SEC so difficult.

Yes, they are. And ND won.

NDs only saving grace is that they might jump up and beat Bama on one night of the year. They'd be a 2-3 loss team in the SEC this year.

This is why ND wouldnt be a top team in the SEC. They think Pitt is a legit team haha. Funny.

So there's nothing in between "dog shite" and "legit"? I think there's a lot in between there, but thanks for letting me know there's not.

Meh. The point is that ND is not a team that would roll into the SEC and beat most of the elite teams. Those were ugly, ugly games that if they played teams of SEC caliber they lose. I'm not saying ND is a bad team, they are a very good team, they just really got lucky a ton this year. I just don't see a lot of the Big 6 teams that they could beat because most of them would suffocate them defensively and A&M would simply blow by them offensively.

Teams from other conferences can compete in the top tier of the SEC. Cracking that top 3 or going to a SECCG is tough sledding and I think that it would be tough for any program to come into this great conference and do. I do think that a team like Notre Dame has this year could come in and compete for it though finishing in the top 4-5. Its not an indictment on the great quality in the SEC its just an acknowledgement that there are some good football teams in other parts of the country.

Compared to the SEC, Pitt is in fact dog shite. They are like Vandy, only worse.
