Lulz...
They make half the money that we will and the B1G will. That's why that conference won't survive.

People alleging that UNC and Duke are a "package deal" are simply not informed about realignment and looking at this realistically.
UNC/Duke will never be split up. You can take that to the bank.

The ACC may not be viable long-term. If that happens, they will all be scrambling looking for new homes
How to you come to figure that considering all the Big East teams are wanting to come to the ACC? If a conference falls apart it's going to be the Big East, and most of them will be wanting in the ACC due to the fact that they are basketball schools. Granted, SEC will get some of them too.

UNC and UVA are too snoody for the SEC. They will go with the Big10. SEC will end up taking VT and NCSU to get into the VA and NC markets. Watch and see.
Better go tell UNC fans about this -- since at least 90% of them PREFER the SEC 10 to 1 over the B1G in reading their boards. They will NEVER support a move to the B1G.

If the SEC pulls the coupe and gets UNC and Virginia, Slive will have not only won the realignment battle but he will have made Delaney bite the pillow. Academics and TV sets will be a huge boon to the conference.

I think they are tied to the hip as well...

The day the ACC dies, they are split. PERIOD. There is zero possible way for them to stay together in expansion. So, they can split and both go make $50mil/yr in athletics revenue and still make a huge deal out of playing each other -- or they can stay together in the "new" Big East or ACC and make $5-15 or $20mil/yr -- and fade into obscurity. The decision here is obvious.
Texas/aTm would never be split either -- nor would Mizzou/Kansas -- and there was ZERO chance that Oklahoma/Nebraska could ever be broken up.
Oh, wait... Money talked and bullshite walked.

Hahaha if you're comparing any of those rivalries to Duke/UNC you are retarded.
The casual fan would not even know any of those schools were rivalries. Everyone knows the Duke/UNC rivalry

$20 mil < $50 mil. That's all you really need to know about expansion. The ACC only offers these teams HALF of what the B1G and SEC offers monetarily. Unless the ACC can right that ship IMMEDIATELY, they are about to start bleeding teams -- and once it's unstable, the markets are ripe for the picking.

Maybe. But 5 years ago people would have called you crazy if you told them TAMU andUT would split up, Mizzou would be in the SEC and WVU in the Big12. Crazy times in college sports...

Unfortunately, their message board fans don't call the shots up there. Their academic elite administration does though.

Proof that you are an idiot.

Google their endowments. UNC/Duke aren't overly concerned with money.

The ACC is ADDING teams. Yes, they lost Maryland, which was a huge surprise to everyone, but they added three schools just as good if not better. Money is not an issue for Duke or UNC. If UNC or Duke wants to increase their budget by 40%, they have the boosters to do it and will do it.

That administration still has to answer to those fans though. No way they can ever push through a decision that 90% of their fanbase ABSOLUTELY hates and would rally against.
There would be riots in Chapel Hill if they ended up in the B1G and NCState got the SEC invite...

Exactly. The Big East fell apart because of TV revenue. The same thing will happen to the ACC within the next 3 years. That's why you had FSU and Clemson fighting so hard not to have a monetary penalty for leaving the conference just last year. They know what's coming. 5 years from now there will be 4 super conferences, and the ACC is on the outside looking in.

I don't buy your stats.. (what's 90% preferring 10 to 1? 81.8%?) anyway, I don't think a survey of UNC alumni (rather than sidewalkers) would be that overwhelming. and I'm regularly surrounded by UNC alumni where I live. UNC alumni are very conscious of the academic reputation, which favors associating w/ the B10. faculty and BOR will favor the B10. Roy Williams will want the B10. (i think he was Delaney's roommate in college). Larry Fedora and the baseball coach will support the SEC.

Completely irrelevant. Some of the biggest endowment schools in the country blow at football because their academic elite boosters could care less. Doesn't do you a bit of good to have a million sitting in your bank account if you can't access the funds, does it?
