OU and OK State were charter members of the SWC but didn't stay long (OU left in 1919 followed by OK State in 1925). Houston was a late addition (1976). So none of those schools were really "core" members (as opposed to Arkansas, also a charter member which remained until 1991).

Now if you were discussing the Big 12, Houston was never a member.

they have hard time seeing the ACC falling apart to the point where UNC has to leave

but they admittedly recognize their bias in that it may be wishful thinking because they've grown up with the ACC
