Vicksburg would be much higher on my list if it weren't like a little Jackson. The crime is unreal there, all kinds of crime in that town.

Damned gambling boats. It was a nice town, back in the day, though I wouldn't have included it on a list of "small towns."

Still, next time you're there, have a few of Solly's Hot Tamales, just for me. I haven't had one in ages, and I still crave them sometimes, especially at the bottom of a bowl of tasty chili. My grandmother was a friend of old Mr. Solly himself and made the best chili to go with his specialty.

Oxford. By default really. South MS is too trashy

You have no idea what you are talking about. Every southern state has enough trashy people to go around. Drive about ten minutes outside of Oxford and see what you find.

Oxford is charming and a great little town. And for a couple of Saturdays in the fall, it can be one of the best experiences of your life. As someone that has been to literally every part of the state and visited or gone through most towns/cities. Oxford is behind atleast 3 coast towns. Problem with any college town is any and everything revolve around the university.

Quite a few well-preserved plantations in the area.
