I'm sure this thread will be revisited in a couple days

It's all speculation right now anyway... Gotta see how the tourney plays out... I, like many OM fans, will be pulling hard for Tennessee and Georgia on Tuesday.

Those are some strong 2 seeds and one extremely hot team in TAMU right now. Where they get put is gonna be hell for the hosting team.

Texas and Louisville will probably be #2 seeds as well... Both will be sent to SEC host sites.

Can anyone explain to me why ULL would be a national seed? They have only played four games against top-50 teams; Vandy, USCe and Ole Miss have each WON about 3-4 times more games than ULL has even played against top-50.

Winning 50 games sounds impressive, until you realize that the wins were against high schools.

Why? Playing and beating those teams would do nothing for you rpi. Ole Miss needs to play and beat teams like Florida, Vandy and USC to help your rpi. But, I doubt anyone cares who Ole Miss fans pull for. Won't have any effect on the game.

not really but if you are a 2 seed it wouldnt be a bad place to be sent. They're a good team but there certainly not an unbeatable 1 seed.

I'm not one to really call out one of my own but I think we might be letting our bias get in the way of a somewhat good discussion here.

If Ole Miss gets a National Seed it will be a nice congratulations on a damn good season. This doesn't bother me at all like it is many State fans.

The only real thing that would make me care about Ole Miss or where they end up getting their hosting seed, whether national or not, would be if State's path to Omaha somehow runs across theirs. If that happens, we split the four games we played against them this year so it could be anyone's series when and if we did play.

In short, Ole Miss had a pretty good season and if they get a national seed, props to them.

Yea State as a #2 or aTm at #2 or #3 would be hell for ULL.....they also have to worry about getting Texas.

Here here.

I think Ole Miss deserves the national seed, and I think they are going to get it. Jackson State won the SWAC, so that's one team. I figure they will get a regional similar to what State got last year. Someone like Mercer as a 2 seed and a mediocre 3 seed.

I think they will be matched up with one of those Southwest regionals like Oklahoma State, TCU, Houston or Rice, where Mississippi State will be the #2 seed. Setting up the Super Regional that will break every record known to man.

There's about four #2 seeds that will come out of the SEC that are going to make some mediocre host teams shite their pants.

ULL, Oklahoma State, TCU, Houston, Rice, Washington, Cal Poly, Indiana, Florida State - all teams that do not want to see a #2 seed from the SEC.

Virginia always gets a WTF regional of northeast teams, and Liberty seems to be destined to a 2 seed there. Miami and Oregon State are the only two non-SEC hosts that if I want to avoid. Anywhere else and let's play ball.

ULL will probably have the most loaded bracket of any national seed.

I could see this
1. ULL
2. Kansas
3. aTm
4. Alabama State

Not biased at all. Most folks have them in the 13 range on rpi. You don't go from 13 to 8 or 7 without those in front of you totally collapsing and without your rpi improving by beating teams with a lower rpi than you, i.e., Florida, Vandy and to some extent USC.
If they deserve a national seed, congrats to them. I just don't think the numbers prove that out without a whole bunch of unexpected collapses this week.

Florida 2 and Vandy 6. You call it higher, I call it lower. How about "better"?

Brutal....although ULL people are still worried about actually getting a national seed....I'm not sure I see their concern but obviously they are still hearing rumblings that their RPI is not good enough and they haven't played anyone (both valid points TBH). Although this could be Lafayette sports radio stupidity....that is really the only gauge I have as I listen to it on the drive to work in the AM...other than that I try to talk to ULL fans as little as possible.

We are playing better ball than we were earlier in the year but I don't think we're "extremely hot". We will be much more talented on paper than the average 3 seed but with how inconsistent we are we could just as easily lose our first two games and be done

Why do you hate Ole miss so much?

On field results....Ole Miss had more league wins and finished 2nd in the SEC. Vanderbilt finished 6th. Vandy had the opportunity to secure a national seed and a top 4 finish in conference, but didn't. They lost a series at home on the last weekend. Meanwhile, Ole miss went on the road and won their series to take care of business.

You keep talking about RPI like it's the end all be all. So, do you think West Virginia deserves a higher seed in the tourney than Miss State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Dallas Baptist, etc?

they're rpi is 7. that's not too low. the fact they havent played anyone is definitely valid though. if they bow out of the sun belt tourney they could easily just get a regional host and not a national seed.

Damn how the hell did that happen...about 12 weeks ago they were sitting at like 12 or 13...I guess their competition got better

ETA....yea outside of tanking the Sunbelt tourney I think they are good.
