Ole Miss' RPI is number 15 and USC is 12 but Ole Miss has the tougher SOS. It's close. And with us winning the West and finishing above them in the conference overall, I'd say unless we completely screw up in the SEC Tournament, we get it over USC

Not an rpi expert but I think you are expecting an unrealistic movement in rpi. It's not about Ole Miss v. Carolina. It's about the 7 or so teams with a lower rpi than Ole Miss.

RPI isn't the only determining factor when choosing national seeds. Ole Miss has a better body of work than USCe and several other potential national seeds do.

Not to play captain obvious here but doesnt RPI tell exactly who has the better body of work?

How so
He said no way Vandy would get a national seed over Ole Miss because they finished 6th in the SEC(2 games behind OM). However, they have an RPI 6, Ole Miss 13 to 15, Vandy has a SOS 4, Ole Miss 20+. If Vandy can't get one, then OM can't get one. Pretty simple stuff.

SEC fans generally overplay division championships in baseball. Meanwhile, if you said FSU won the Atlantic Division championship, you'd think WGAF.

USC is just one game behind Ole Miss in conference standings, but had a better SOS, thus a better RPI.

You sure about that? Our record vs ranked opponents is pretty strong.

With an RPI of 17 and a SOS in the triple digits no way do they deserve a national seed.

Nobody said Cal Poly would get a national seed

What? How so?

Vandy finished one game better than Arkansas, 2 games below Ole miss.

Ole Miss finished 2nd in the league. Vandy finished 6th.

Already explained it. Don't want to type it again so I will copy and paste:

And that's your opinion.

Vandy again, finished behind Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Miss State, and South Carolina in our league. There is no way, Vanderbilt will get a national seed, unless they win the SECt.

Ole Miss won 19 games in the toughest league in baseball. They have a top 25 SOS.

Vanderbilt had an opportunity to lock up a national seed but didn't by losing their series to South Carolina at home. Ole Miss, went on the road and won their series at aTm.

Where did I say they would? If they don't though, Ole Miss sure as hell won't.

The post I was replying too did

SEC probably will not get more than two top-8 seeds. Oregon State, Virginia, FSU, ULL, and Cal Poly all probably have top-8 seeds, barring tournament meltdowns.

Yeah Vandy lost their chance at a national seed when they couldn't close out USC Thursday night when they were down to their last strike.

If I had a gun to my head right now, I'd say the top 8 are....

Virginia
Florida
Miami(FL)
Oregon State
Indiana
Louisiana Laf
Ole Miss
Florida State

I put Ole Miss because....2nd overall in SEC. Won the toughest division in baseball. 14-11 vs. RPI top 50. Tougher SOS than USCe.

My remaining 8 hosts would be....

South Carolina
Vanderbilt
TCU
Houston
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Cal Poly
Louisville

I could see swapping out TCU for Washington out of the PAC 12.

Yep,

LSU finished 13-17 and a Top 30 RPI in 2010 and we missed the entire tournament. Tennessee is going nowhere with a 12-18 record and 45 RPI.
I remember. Still think they should have gotten in. The SEC was so stacked that year.

Except 12-9 is a better winning pct than 14-11 and USC beat ole miss head to head. Now if ole miss does significantly better in the sect then you might have an argument.

Aaron Fitt said today he thinks Tennessee is in barring whackiness in conference tourneys.

Kendall Rogers says the VOLS need two wins in Hoover to guarantee a spot. Thinks one they are likely but not guaranteed. Loss Tuesday and they would need help.

From VQ. Don't know who these guys are, but the thread made it sound like they are Lunardi/Palm of college baseball?
