People don't want to hear this, but the NCAA can't govern UNC's curriculum.

So fake classes and academic fraud are now a curriculum?

Petino isn't going anywhere. He may get a suspension, but that's it. It doesn't even seem to be a question.

Louisville claims that sitting out the tourneys and reducing schollies is punishment enough.

Yes, if those classes are open to the general student body, which they were.

The University's response to the NOA was that Pitino wasn't "in the know" and that McGee (who at this point was already working at another school and resigned his position there) was acting alone. So the imposed the post-season ban in the middle of their season (which ended up being the nail in President Ramsey's coffin) and then after conversations with the NCAA that indicated that wouldn't be enough they started reducing scholarships.

So if UNC wants to have a basket weaving major for their athletes and have a grad assistant actually do the course work you're good with that?

Will agree with UNC and Miami from an NCAA rules violation. I'm not sure that the NCAA should be getting involved with big time felonies like involved Penn State and Baylor. WE have real laws to deal with that and real prisons

why Ole Miss deserves worse

The answer is probably because your dork AD Bjork and Beaver Teeth HC Freeze thumbed their nose at the NCAA and claimed "prove it!" while continuing the same shite!

Ya but let's be honest here. Pitino gets a little bit of a pass because of his great reputation, kind of like Petrino would

That is 2 separate issues in one remark.

The GA doing the work is under investigation, but already also been penalized.

If the accreditation organization is okay with it, then you should be as well.

I never said I was good with it. I just said that from the NCAA's perspective, they can't force UNC's hand on academic offerings to the student body.

There were a lot of regular students in those classes. The NCAA enforcement case against UNC (still ongoing) is based on whether the athletes were doing what little work there was in those classes on their own. That's my understanding, at least.

This is as good a reason as any to disband the NCAA. It's a corrupt, broken institution and needs to be dissolved.

why do people keep saying the NCAA let UNC slide? They just received their 3rd NOA in December. No one knows what the NCAA is going to do to them, so it's a little premature to say they're letting them slide

The NCAA would like to give up regulating football now and they will in next 5-10 years. They just want to keep basketball

Pitino doesn't have to be in the know. It's his responsibility regardless right? He is the head coach. At least that is the argument The NCAA is going to use to hammer Freeze.
