Sure, he fumbled too much last year, but when he held on to the ball, the guy would straight up burn defenses every time he got the ball, and was much more physical than I originally thought. Just sayin', the guy has some SERIOUS talent if he can hold on to the ball.

Agreed. He is much better than he gets credit for, I think he is the best back on your roster at this moment.

I agree he is unproven. Didn't want to insinuate otherwise. But if we were betting on "futures", he is my "stone cold lock of the year" to be very good

ain't nothing wrong with that...yall got your horse...we got ours.

Henry is still an unknown right now. But he had a year to learn his blocking schemes, the offense and he practiced against a damn good defense all of last year.

i think this is Henry's biggest advantage right now. Most coaches arent going to put in a RB who can't block for the QB. If they do, said RB usually wont get enough carries to put up a big number of yards.

most of the time the premiere backs in HS havent had a lot of experience with pass protection, especially not on the level needed for a pro-style offense like bama or lsu. I dont know if LF will be an exception. it might take him some weeks/months to master the blocking assignments.

I remember Henry saying that in HS he never had to block so it took him even longer....

Does anyone disagree that these two will be the top two backs over the next 2-3 years in the SEC?

Yes, I do.

They could be, sure, but there is WAY too much talent at RB in this league to say they "will be". I doubt either of them are the best in the league this year alone tbh. Unless you think they'll eclipse guys like Gurley and Mike Davis in their first year getting serious PT.

I'll go with Henry between these two, but if Keith Marshall gets redshirted or Gurley sits for any extended period, I'm changing that pick to Nick Chubb.

From high school star to college star, Trent Richardson and Reggie Bush come to mind. I'm sorry if I'm not ready to crown a guy that's never taken a snap at the collegiate level.

If we are strictly talking college...STRICTLY college Trent and AD are very similar

Reggie Bush was a league all his own, and the jury is still out on LF obviously but on HS film alone Bush was better than LF and when he got to U$Cw he was just as good and accomplished so e amazing statistics his whole career in college

I'd be willing to bet LF won't be close to that level of production, he's a totally different skill set. He's good there's no doubt about that, lets wait and see how much production he has this year.

The second person I think this board would be way better without.

Henry is going to be a beast, but he had one awesome game against a big 12 team that has been recruiting smaller guys to face the spread for years now. OU hadn't seen an SEC style rushing attack like LSU/Bama/UF in years.

If Fournette comes out and balls out against Wisconsin, I'll be impressed. But I'm not gonna christen him the almighty just yet.

That said, I think its more even than most are giving credit for, because unlike Bama with Drake, LSU doesn't have a 3rd running back that demands playing time unless Hilliard gets back into shape/gets out of a slump/whatever the frick is going on with him.

Gun to my head, I say Henry. Won't be surprised either way.

Did I mention that every time Derrick Henry touched the ball 6+ times, he hit 100 yards?

LF

I'm still not convinced DH will take enough carries from Yeldon or even Drake.

I don't know why DH doesn't impress you but in just 35 carries all year he impressed me more than those two.

Because the backup RB has replaced the backup QB argument at Alabama.

True but man DH is special. Maybe he can be our generation player? We haven't really had one of those like Auburn and A&M and LSU with Mettenbeger.

this. Henry has more competition than Fournette. LF however will have a bullseye so production could be limited. Henry scares me more than Yeldon or Drake although each one is pretty good.

With all the offensive rebuilding this year it will be wide open for a few weeks until we see who is contenders and who is pretenders... JMHO

Henry is a scary man. They should have rode him all last year.
