Yes.

Wichita St. also has the ability to pay more for Marshall to stay than Tennessee ever would to leave...

Good God dude, Marshall is not leaving Wichita St. He can win championships where he is at, plus his family loves it. Tennessee is a lateral move at best, probably a step down considering how psycho 90% of your fan base is.

the Vols turned down Marshall when he was at winthrop or wherever... then turned him down this last time when they hired cuonzo... there is no way he goes there now... not after the two years he's had.

Different ADs.

i get that, but still... coaches have egos, and nobody is going to work for someone who turned them down twice before... especially if they're in a significantly stronger position than they were previously.

as someone else mentioned, stranger things have indeed happened (UL letting petrino slither back to town would be one of them), but it's the longest of longshots.

That's true but at the same time those egos often clash with individuals rather than the schools themselves. I don't think he'd have tried the second time if he held it against the university. Sometimes you want something specific and being turned down doesn't matter to you and Marshall is a guy from the South and obviously likes and/or liked the idea of an SEC school and specifically liked the idea of coaching at UT enough to go for it twice.

UT has some of the best facilities in the entire country and is arguably the 3rd best basketball program in the SEC right now and the 2nd most valuable SEC bball progam (top 15 in the country) and the 2nd best in SEC attendance. That makes it a pretty great job for any coach out to make a mark on the basketball world and who wants to see over 20k fans in the stands - that's an ego boost (coaching against UK as 1 of their 2 rivals, is another boost to the ego as is as coaching against Donovan's UF). Also, TBA can and should be as big of a home court advantage as Rupp is and the right coach can make it into that.

Really it all depends on what he wants and how serious we are about getting him but I don't think it's out of the question or even something he would turn down out of hand just because he interviewed before. Sometimes 3rd time really is the charm. OTOH, he may be perfectly happy at Wichita St.

Arkansas and possibly Mizzou are better programs.
Yea you have a big arena, but so does Arky (20,000) Carolina (18,000) Mizzou (16,000). Quit being fricking delusional, ya'll have never even made it past an elite 8.

Not really considering LSU has legit claim to 4th best in SEC history. No one could field a more dominate all time team than LSU either. With 4 final fours I think we are more than good enough for 4th best in sec history. UT can settle for 5th.

Once again I said right now as well as arguably. Modifiers are there for a reason.

Mizzou would have a good claim for 5th.

Bama would have a legit argument for 6th.

Tennessee is definitely a top half SEC program, barely.

Well, right now, you have your HC looking to step to another program... none of the others mentioned has that going on...

Yea Arky has ya'll beat right now too. Anderson has them improving every year and they should be picked top 3 in the SEC next season. They also sell out most games or come close to it. Also close proximity to Memphis and St Louis. Arky is deep down a basketball school.

To be fair, you know very little about basketball. You were predicting Tennessee to be a 4 seed in the NIT just a month and a half ago.

Arky has finished behind Tennessee in attendance 9 years in a row.

Did LSU not lose a coach to a much worse program than Marquette just 2 years ago?

Marquette is a better program than Tennessee.

Some schools are used as stepping stones, others are not.

What the hell does attendance have to do with anything? Let's get real here........who would want to coach at a place where the coach just made the Sweet Sixteen, yet the fanbase shows him zero support? You guys are not bball blue bloods and you need to stop acting like you are. If Martin leaves, you just ran off a damn good coach.
