RT @finebaum: Cuonzo Martin leaning toward Marquette, @GoodmanESPN tells us. Gregg Marshall likely tops wish list at UT if change is made

That would piss a lot of USC fans off. Gregg Marshall (SC native and former Winthrop coach) was the guy everybody wanted when we hired Darrin Horn. Then, he was the guy everybody wanted when we hired Frank Martin. Apparently, Marshall wanted to come here, but it never worked out for whatever reason.

UT will make ZERO counter offer 2 Cuonzo. Marshall & Howland will be 1st called. #Vols

Local radio host reporting VOLS will not counter Marquette's offer.

Yeah, that was after LSU announced Quarterman would start over Hickey against UMass. Some pretty funny stuff in that thread.

Marshall's not going anywhere this year. Certainly not to Tennessee.

Why not? Tennessee would be a good power conference school jump for Marshall.

He could do a lot better. His kid is gonna be a senior in high school. He runs Wichita and makes a great living doing it.

Why go to Tennessee when he could go to Indiana next year?

That makes sense. E

scort a coach who underachieves that plays a boring style for a underachieving coach who can't run a BBall program off the court who also plays a boring style.

Style of play has nothing to do with it.

I dunno how much it plays into coach's decisions, but he is from Greenwood, SC. He could want to be closer to home in the South. Wichita State is his first job outside of the South.

He runs things at Wichita, but could he ever win a NC there?

I'm just throwing things around. I don't want Marshall to go there.

Was it his underachieving at UCLA that is making Tennessee want him?

Why wouldn't he be able to?

How many final fours has Tennessee been too?

Marshall is able to sign players at Wichita St. who would not qualify for several power conferences, he takes advantage of this...

the Vols turned down Marshall when he was at winthrop or wherever... then turned him down this last time when they hired cuonzo... there is no way he goes there now... not after the two years he's had.

If Wichita didn't draw the greatest 8-seed of all time, they'd be on their way to arlington right now... to say he can't win an NC in today's Bball landscape is foolish.

Seems pretty unlikely but stranger things have happened
