Another unanswered question...

Did the Big 12 not have a pass out rule? Seems like some Mizzou fans are unfamiliar with SEC policy.

Nope. Our fans (and especially our students) are used to being able to go back out to the tailgate at halftime, chug a few beers, and keep their buzz going the rest of the game.

The AD has done a piss poor job of publicizing this, as still hoards of students keep trying to come back for the second half, and are turned away at the gate.

It really is a retarded policy IMO.

Tennessee's future is better, but I see Missouri winning an NC before the vols do again.

Misery has spikes of talent, that correlate exactly with the in-state talent produced by Arkansas seed every 5-10 years.

I've told my friends to quit going to missouri for this reason, but it hasn't stopped them yet.

SEC is no alcohol (at least not in the public seats) and no pass out means folks are hopefully more sober because they can not refuel at halftime. Can you imagine heated SEC games with full bore booze all game?

In hockey terms it is like cutting beer sales off at the start of the 3rd period so (in theory) folks can sober up to drive home. It is not a retarded policy at all.

Missouri Vs. Tennessee
Facilities = TN
Recruiting Location = TN
Coaching situation = TN
Fanbase = TN
Traditon = TN
Current Talent = Even
Current Recruiting classes = TN
Current Season Results = MO
Stadium = TN

Facilities = TN, but MU's aren't horrible by any means and will be upgrading again soon.

Recruiting Location = Missouri is currently an extremely underrated recruiting area, not to mention it's on the verge of a huge boom in talent. Youth football took off and continues to take off in this state, something that wasn't big at all in the past. 2 large urban centers, and solid rural areas too.

Coaching Situation = How can you possibly say TN? We have a coach on the verge of breaking the programs all time win total, a man who has established a brand and style for our program. You're trying to just stop the coaching carrousel.

Stadium = You have a concrete bowl with no character. Your home games look like a construction convention.

I wish one day this would be cleared up. I dont believe the sec has any actual policy on selling alcohol. im to lazy to look it up but i could have sworn a few ads had said as much.

Flasks exist for a reason, and that reason is the SEC no pass out policy.

SEC is Southern Baptists so that probably has effect in some part but also there were some horrific car wrecks (UK vs UT game?) where insurance liability may have forced an adopted "don't ask, don't tell" type mentality. You can get booze in the corporate suites but not in the stands. Maybe no SEC can "officially" sell a drink because they do not want the legal liability if something goes bad.

well yea its made up of religious nuts but still its not official policy. If LSU felt like selling alcohol in the stadium we could. It would make the other schools cry about it. Its more like a gentlemens deal that each school wont do it. It probably has to do with fan behavior in the stands.

Facilities need to look fresh but stadiums have to have atmospheres. Having an extra 20,000 screaming fans make a difference and as the LSU @ UGA game showed it makes for robust TV viewing. Drab concrete of a stadium can be overlooked if there is lots of color and noise from the people "covering" the concrete.

100,000 K Vol fans in brilliant orange creates the atmosphere not the concrete structure itself.

Probably should check into some of the new pics of Neyland. It's not the erector set/concrete bowl that it once was.

The fact that this thread has gone 10 pages makes me want to beat the shite out of Mike Hamilton even more.

We have fine atmosphere, thanks. And it creates just fine 'robust' tv. And this is before that gay track was changed up, before our addition that's in progress. Size matters, but the motion of the ocean is very relevant too.

Fine to who?

Vols in the 90's was unreal. They were fighting neck and neck for top attendance with Michigan and the place was just insane crazy with fans and noise. This was before ribbon boards, jumbotrons, sound systems that have taken over now and even then I would trade that for what has happened since. If you were not there I have no way to convey to you just how awesome the experience was.

I am willing to bet if you took a Vol fan who experienced that and plopped them in Mizzou right now they would say there was no comparison. What you take as people knocking Mizzou is not about Mizzou but how that compares to what SEC fans have experienced with at bigger and louder stadiums during their time as SEC fans.

Look at the experience another way...

Last year UK played @ Mizzou (for homecoming no less) and the Tigers drew 67,853 which is respectable and close to capacity

This year UK plays @ South Carolina and the game is already SOLD OUT LINK and they seat 80,250

Ole Miss is smaller than MU, yet it's one of the best places to watch college football. Your relentless passive aggressive attack on Mizzou is funny.
