What's the big deal about this? Was there any doubt that Oxford is the better city, but Mississippi State is the better University?

The #1 reason for the bar scene in Starkville not being alot better is the ABC in Starkville is fricking miserable. There is a reason freshman/sophomore's don't go out that often. It's because the ABC trounces in and shells out MIP's and fake ID charges

I heard ABC's contract has run up and they won't be in Starkville next year.

Sounds like you all are a bunch of pussies. ABC is out in droves in Oxford as well, and everyone typically gets caught at least once, but you don't see us pussing out. I don't know if they're as strong in Oxford now, but after the cop was killed, they were out in droves.

they are pretty bad. nothing is worse than when you are hooking up with a girl under 21 and she's scared to go somewhere on the square cuz so-and-so said ABC is there. Pisses me off

I've been to Oxford plenty over the last year and not once did I see ABC out and I saw them out all the time in Starkville

Maybe I just caught Oxford on good nights but my friends that live there say they don't come out too often

As I said, it may have died down since I was 21, but it was nuts my freshman and sophomore year, but that still didn't stop us.

Both towns are way to small. Nothing to do in either one.
Only time it's half way decent is during football season and that's on the weekends.

I enjoy traveling to both on a Saturday to watch football.
But to live there. No thank you.

Best College Towns in Mississippi 1. Oxford. 2. Cleveland 3. Hattiesburg 4. Starksville

Southern Miss sucks but Hattiesburg is a decent size city.

Oxford & Starkville is nice if you like small town USA.

Cleveland does not deserve a response.

I just don't remember it being that bad when I was there. This was '89-'93 but the bar seen was pretty non existent then so that is probably why. But we would just go to the golf course.

I like the size and country atmosphere of Starkville. If I wanted to go to Cocaine U I would have went to Bogota and if I wanted to go to inner city slum school I would have went to LSU or Jackson State

I never realized how small Oxford was before you posted that.

That's fricking miserable, I don't care how great the tailgates are during football season

The talent in Hattiesburg isn't bad at all.

Maybe for you. I personally hate huge cities and find them miserable. I'm currently in Fort Worth and I can't wait to get back to MS and my small town.
