In Oxford, there's no need to ask anyone if they're going out, because the answer is "frick yeah" every single time. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Mondays, and sometimes Wednesdays.

That, and you can just go out without any planning whatsoever and run into people you know. You can't even drunkenly walk into McDonald's without bumping into a friend in Oxford.

The square is really fun and all, but the biggest difference in Oxford and Starkville is the attitude of the students. In Starkville you have to call up several people and coordinate a plan for everyone to go out. In Oxford, there's no need to ask anyone if they're going out, because the answer is "frick yeah" every single time. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Mondays, and sometimes Wednesdays.

Agree 100%.

Bars have really went downhill the past 4 years.

Not a flame but I've heard one reason why Starkville is lacking a little bit behind fun in Oxford is because girls at State are prudes. Like you have to be dating them for a month or more before they give it up. Most girls, not all.

What really makes me crack up is State fans talking about we coordinate big recruiting weekends as a fanbase and strategically put all these girls and tons of people at the Library.

The Library is like that every weekend, with a $20 cover. Every. Weekend.

Seriously, half the time I just walked to the bars knowing I'd find someone there I'd know and didn't bother calling other friends.

I've always experienced that at State the wild girls party and the good girls stay at home on the weekends. At Oxford the wild girls party but the good girls still go out to the bars for the socializing.

Minimum. If there's a big weekend like a football game it's $40

Exactly. I see 20 people I know at Roosters every night. I go out almost every night during the summer. The deals are just too good to pass up.

You sound like my mom around Christmas.

(But you are right. Summer drink specials are the shite. The bars make so much fricking money during football season that they can skate by during the summer. They just need warm bodies in the bar so their staff can get paid.)

Parties were the same way. Even if I had no idea whose house we were showing up to, I knew I'd see friends there.

That's what I don't get about Starkville. They have dirt cheap drink specials year round and people still won't go out. I'd be at the cotton district every night and have a lot more money than I do now.

God, the summers were the best time to be in Oxford. Never had more fun in my life than spending summers in Oxford. One summer everyone I despised or didn't like left, and everyone I liked stayed. That was a summer to remember. Do whatever the frick you want without the worry of two faced people spreading the word or trying to frick you over. Definitely the best 4 months of my life at this point.

New Orleans and Lafayette are like that with going out. I've always found it weird that everyone in BR goes out Thursday and dicks around during the weekends. I love being able to just get drunk on a Tuesday, walk a few blocks and know I'll see people out.

Monday is my favorite night to go out. Tuesday is the only day I never go out for some reason.

Not true. Just when a majority of the student population doesn't go out and party, the girls are less inclined to make bad decisions.

Most of the fun goes down at house parties or frat parties (but who wants to do that after your So. year)

Monday was almost without fail Roosters and then a night cap at City Grocery.

Tuesday though... aside from Freshman Rush, I can't say I went out much at all on Tuesday. Sometimes hit up the Burgundy Room on Wednesday, but Thursday I was down for basically anywhere.

Two dollar tequilla tuesday at the Round Table last summer. Craziest nights of my life. I miss it :(
