I'm from Greenville and this is entirely accurate.

You're the one that's famous for saying Grenada without the lake

I grew up in Grenada.

If Grenada didn't have a lake it would be...shite...I dunno...Calhoun City? That town fricking blows as far as "night life".

Oxford has far and away the best and easiest accessed night life in MS. I liked Murph's and Two Stick when it was in that alley. When I go back now I like to head to the Blind Pig.

I liked being able to just wander away from the Square and end up at someone's house party and it was always cool.

My second favorite college town, no shite, was Cleveland. That was back when the Farmhouse was still hosting shows, though, and Cleveland is definitely more of a house party town, but there was ALWAYS someone's house to go get fricking smashed at.

It turned into every OM poster trying to validate Oxford nightlife by proclaiming how popular they were by being able to go out anywhere and find friends.

Oxford is cooler you win on that front.

I worked in Starkville/West Point right out of college and lived in the Hotel Chester... IStill knew lots of students at MSU and I could walk to Rick's, Mugshots or Old Venice... I buddied up with a bartender at Whiskey Blues as well ... Thursday night at Old Venice was $3 you call it back then... Good Lord I cheated on my girlfriend who was back in Oxford... frick all this talk about girls at State not putting out.... That's just something guys that don't hook up say...I did have an unfair advantage when all I had to say was "You're too drunk to drive come stay in my room at the Chester... There's 2 beds... No pressure.. I'll get you home early tomorrow morning" That was back in 2006 so I don't know what it's like now... I mainly loved it cause I was burnt out on Oxford cause I'd been going to the same bars for several years .. There's no comparison between the two nightlifes... The Square 's just too badass.

Am I the only one who is incredibly perplexed that they advertise Grenada over Memphis in Jackson when you're driving down the interstate? 99% of the people heading north are not stopping or changing routes at Grenada. They may however be heading to Memphis due to the fact that they can change their routes to go either east or west. People not from the area have no idea what Grenada is, but they do have some idea what Memphis is and on their instructions there is likely some directions once they get to Memphis, regardless of their destination.

When Starkville vs. Oxford threads come up you usually respond by calling Oxford "Grenada North" or "Grenada without the lake."

So quit making shite up as usual.

I don't know. Maybe the signs are from a by-gone age when Grenada was supposed to grow into something worth a damn? I remember at one point it was projected to be bigger than Jackson and with more businesses. The problem is we have a backwards-arse city council that don't let ANY new businesses in.

It's a fricking shame that towns like Tupelo and even Corinth, which are difficult as shite to get to, are more prosperous than Grenada. Being almost exactly halfway between Jackson and Memphis, in a central location of the state, on the interstate, it should be worth a shite.

Oh well. Not my problem anymore. The wife got a job in Corinth at their hospital after med school, so now we will be living there. We're trying to convince our parents to quit their jobs and move up to Corinth. No luck so far. Haha
