How come you left out the ones that feel the same as I do? You left those off your OP.

Because "I'm not sure" opinions don't matter.

This thread is for those who are shitting on the hire.

Go find some folks with basketball knowledge in the media or a part of college basketball that thinks this is a bad hire.

AJ has friends in the media and those who want to prop up his hiring. There is a reason why so many programs turned away from him over the last three years. Does anyone believe Bill Battle is that much smarter than those other ADs who would not give AJ a sniff ?

I'm not saying he was a bad hire. Don't need to find anything to knock the hire down. I want to see what he can do.

I'm way more excited about Avery Johnson than Marshall. Agree it's a better hire.

Cannot wait until next season.

Brilliant move by Battle with the Marshall smokescreen, while working the back channels securing the guy we really wanted.

Alabama makes a big splash in hiring Avery Johnson. I think it's awesome to get the guy who plays Kevin Hart in the movies.#Get Hardcourt

Quite frankly, not only do I think it salvages the day, I really think in many ways this is a better hire than Gregg Marshall," Finebaum said. "I say it's a better hire because Avery Johnson wants the job. He wants to be there. He's enthusiastic. He's excited. He's not heartbroken about leaving behind a team, a city and a legacy.

I dunno. Career winning % of only .557 with few recruiting ties.

But, when you can't get anyone who is established to take the job...

Welp, I am convinced it was a home run hire. Congrats bama. On anoither note, his pressers will be pretty comical to watch, so it's a win/win for errybody.

How many NBA Finals has Anderson led his teams to?

A big fricking zero.

Tim Brando (Fox Sports) @TimBrando Home Run Hire in Tuscaloosa. Avery Johnson's a friend that I covered while he played at Southern. Without CBB experience but connected.

That sums up the joke that is Tim Brando. He's a home run hire in Tim Brando's mind because Tim Brando covered him and he's a friend.

One guy took a NBA team to the Finals whereas another hasn't.

Seems pretty self explanatory.

If this was the NBA, then you'd have a point. Avery Johnson hasn't been in the college game in more than 25 years. Comparing pro basketball and college basketball is comparing apples to oranges.

How well will Avery Johnson recruit? How well will he handle boosters? How will he handle kids who don't want to go to class in their one year on campus? How well will he handle it when a star player expects to be coddled because that's they way his AAU coach handled him? Avery Johnson is not exactly known as a butt-smooching players coach.

Avery Johsnon could succeed, but the fact that he led an NBA team to the Finals one year doesn't immediately project success in the college game. Let's not act like this is a definite home run hire. He hasn't coached a game in college. This isn't hiring a proven college winner to Tuscaloosa.
