Same here. I was never really on the Marshall bandwagon, especially not at 4.9 million.

Two 60 win seasons in the NBA, yeah dude sucks arse. Idiot. Chalk me up as someone who likes this hire better than Marshall.

He was handed a team with tons of talent. The Nets job might be a better indicator of his coaching ability. If a fired NBA Coach goes three seasons without being retreaded, then there are some red flags that need to be looked at.

Is it just me or is the high point of Alabama basketball when they hire a new coach?

Was AJ situation in Dallas similar to Erik Jon Spoelstra and David Blatt's ?

Name the 60 win seasons that Erik Spoelstra and David Blatt own combined.

Also, give me some of the rosters that Erik and David have worked with. Argurably, Avery had less talent.

What coach has actually won anything at Nets? It's a shite job.

Just because he won at Dallas with good players doesn't mean he is a bad coach. That's a dumb argument.

They've even compared Isiah Thomas to Avery Johnson.

Would Phil Jackson have 11 titles if he didn't have Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Shaq, Kobe, etc?

Hell no.

Name one NBA team sans the Pistons a decade ago that didn't win the title without at least 2 superstars.

Better yet, name the best player Johnson had while he was with the Nets. Deron Williams?

If Phil Jackson coached the the 2006 Mavricks Dirk would have more than one ring. He sucks as a coach.

If Nick Saban coached Georgia. Georgia would have 1 national championship.

Stupid statement.

The fact that you had to post all those quotes is sad

I look forward to Simmons making bama look like his bitch. Very underwhelming hire considering the money that was available.

But why three seasons without another Pro job ? Even the worse coaches get retreaded in that league. It is as bad as the NFL.

Say all you want but Johnson is a second fiddle hire considering bama was willing to pay someone close to $5,000,000 a year. No one worth a damn thinks it's a job worth taking

Gruden has been out of a NFL job for almost a decade yet many people on this board think he would be a savior for their program.

He won a Super Bowl with Dungy's team against his former employer.

What's the difference?

Avery had a Dallas team that easily had deep playoff talent. This hire is a downgrade for him even though he had no business coaching in the NBA.

Tennessee came out wayyy on top getting Barnes.

The difference is one coaches football and one coaches basketball and that those 2 are completely and utterly different sports. What an idiotic comparison. I hope someone doesn't have to explain to you why this is different.
