That's 3 automatic no votes. If the one state one team group sticks to the plan, you can also add

Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina

That's half the conference already voting no.

Ole Miss hasn't forgotten the bullshite that happened in 2013 either. That's 8.

If you assume that there is any solidarity between the land-grant colleges, you can add

Mississippi State
LSU
Auburn

to the list as well. That's now 11 out of 14 schools that would say no. Alabama doesn't really care and Vanderbilt doesn't like disruption (which is why they were the one potential "no" vote to A&M's entrance).

I can really only see Tennessee voting yes.

I'm sure Alabama enjoys being the biggest power player in the conference. Why would they want a rich power hungry maniac competing?

*3.1.2 Granting of Membership. Membership may be granted by invitation of the Conference at a meeting of the Chief Executive Officers. A vote of at least three-fourths of the members is required to extend an invitation for membership.

So you need 11 yea's to get in. That means 4 schools can nix it. Automatic no votes that will not be swayed (they're here, after all, because of UT politics): A&M, Arkansas, Missouri. Out of Ole Miss (remember the LHN fiasco? I guarantee Ole Miss fans do), MSU, and LSU there's at least one more no vote and I'm guessing 3.

I disagree.

We're basing this on the status quo CFB atmosphere. But if Texas and Oklahoma both announce that they are leaving the BIG 12, then the BIG 12 is essentially dead.

What you then have is 10 teams trying desperately to join one of the other 4 power conferences.

While you may be correct in saying that at this current time, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas, etc. would not want Texas added to the league, if the prospect becomes add major-revenue-producing Texas or watch major-revenue-producing Texas go to one of the other leagues, most schools are going to be changing their tune.

The ACC currently sits at 14
The BIG10 currently sits at 14
The SEC currently sits at 14
The PAC currently sits at 12

With the crumbling of the BIG 12, there is room for 8 of the 10 current BIG 12 schools to join a power league.... that is unless Notre Dame decides to jump in now that they see it may be their last chance to ever do so.

Obviously Texas is the big fish. Any league would take them under these conditions.

Oklahoma is a clear #2. Every league would also be after them.

Everyone else is going to be having to sway the leagues to give them a shot. Iowa State is probably done for... destined for the MAC or some league like that. I would say Baylor is in trouble, but they are scrappy and somehow end up having as much pull as the Longhorns.

If Greg Sankey and ESPN (SEC Network) execs visit every administration and explain how allowing Texas into the league is going to boost income for every single school by several millions of dollars, those ADs will quickly change their tune. And if the other power leagues essentially say that 16 teams is the new mandatory minimum to be a major league, the SEC is going to take Texas before they are left with the sraps.
