Should be glad he gave her a meeting.

I am surprised at this point, it happened. Saban must really want him on the team, because IMO he is not coming back even if he was offered to play every down of the season

Now you're discussing a rule change. One which every SEC coach, except for Mark Richt, has taken advantage of.

No doubt. I understand the rule for non graduates, because you'd have players following position coaches and coordinators everywhere. That's a huge deal, especially within conference. But graduating is graduating IMO.

She doesn't have an argument in the first place.

Yes, she does. Not in regards to what the current rule is, but whether that rule should exist.

She is screwing over her son in the longterm. Do you think any NFL GM is going to want a guy whose mommy emails the coach when he doesn't get his way?

oh come the frick on.

NFL GMs take guys who beat their wives and run dog fighting rings. If he can play at the next level, none of this shite will matter.

I don't think it is that at all because he can sit out and year and play anywhere he wants to.

Why doesn't he just go to UGA and sit out a year which is allowed? That's my whole problem with this. Its a non-story. Just take your year like everyone else would have to.

He would have to pay his own way, I believe. For an out-of-state student, that could be tough.

Yea,because the NCAA has been SO successful in all of its court cases involving student athletes.

You seem to fail to grasp the concept that he isn't being prevented from transferring.

He's being prevented from getting a scholarship at Georgia. I don't know how the conference rule is specifically worded, but even if someone were to make a court case out of it, you know how easy it would be to fix?

Simply remove the restriction from the player and place it on the school. Right now there's a SEC rule saying a school can't sign a kid that was dismissed from another program over a Domestic Violence arrest. Simply implement a conference rule saying "thou shalt not sign a graduate transfer that played for another SEC school last season". The net effect is identical. Hell, as far as I know that may be the way the rule is written now.

When a guy is a marginal talent, you're not going to take him if he has off the field issues. Like it or not, Nick Saban's opinion of a player matters to several in the NFL.

Every SEC coach has used these rules in regards to kids who have GRADUATED?Please name the coach and player involved.

Nah I'm good. If you want to stick your head in the sand and pretend like this is some obscure rule Saban dug up and abused, go ahead. I really don't care.

Take it up with the AD, the President, the SEC, and the NCAA. This isn't Saban's issue.

Exactly. This conversation is only happening because the SEC put a waiver rule in place and then put the waiver decision on the school the player is transferring from. Either outright ban the transfers or put the waiver decision on the SEC

Again, I'm not saying I agree with the rule. If they were to change it I'd be completely in favor of that.

this is not an off the field issue like you're painting it out to be.

I never said otherwise and please don't try to derail the conversation and make this about a "hating bama" thing. This is about a rule that's in place and I'd venture to say just like folks on this board have different opinions on the rule, so would NFL GMs.

So he could transfer to UGA with the 1 year penalty but they wouldn't put him on scholly?

The rule should just be you can't transfer to another SEC school and play football unless you've graduated.
