If LSU were any good back then, you'd probably have a few of these 'debateable NCs' yourself.

We've been awarded 8 national championships by polls. We claim 3. Try again.

Many coonasses, throughout Louisiana, will be eating a swamp rat for Thanksgiving dinner this year. Book it.
And despite the fact that it will be matted with sweet crude and chock full of dispersants, it will remain less hairier and gamier than yo mamma, who has more teeth down there than up here.

Without a playoff system, any NC is arguable.

So fricking pathetic that an LSU fan trashes the national titles from the 1970s. EVERY GD LSU FAN ON THIS BOARD would proclaim the 1973 and the 1978 national title if the AP (1978) and the UPI (awarded national title before bowl game until the mid 70s). They lose to Kentucky and to Arkansas on the last weekend of the 2007 season and have the nerve to question someone's title.

If Arkansas or Kentucky would have finished tied with LSU for the national title that season I absolutely would not claim the title. Furthermore, if such a scenario had played out the team that was 'tied' with LSU would have been awarded the national championship because they beat us head to head.

And if our only loss had come to USC in 2003 they would have been the real national champion and recognized as such.

I've been an LSU fan since I was 4. I will be 54 next month, so I began watching college football in the early-mid 60's. Truly, if any team was ever cheated out of a natonal championship it was Bama in '66 and '77. The '66 deal was about no black players in the SEC and the '77 ND championship was about the coaches and writers still being mad at the SEC about no back players in the 60's. Give 'em credit where credit is due.
LSU will probably be champs this year, but I still think Bama should have won in '66 and '77.

I don't think so...but then again I forgot, Bammers can only count up to how many fingers and toes they have....

If that were true we'd have 20 NC trophies.
We're working on our cyphering skills.

National titles are sweet, but it's not what I use to determine a programs worth in the History books. Bama's 4 southern titles & 22 SEC titles are what I'm most proud of because they've been won on-the-field of play, and there's no opinions involved. Many great teams weren't given a chance to play for a title over all their yrs in CFB. So there's to much gray area with all that goes into choosing a national title winner. Even one of Bama best teams ever in 1966 didn't bring home the national title, so it's all subjective opinions. Just glad Bama has been good enough to be in the conversation when it comes to who's been one of the best CFB programs.

What I like to look at to see a programs worth:
* Conference titles --- Bama leads the SEC with 22
* Bowls games played --- Bama has NCAA-record 58 postseason bowl appearances
* Bowl games won --- Bama is tied for 1st for this NCAA record
* All time wins --- Think Bama 5th or so with this record
* How many times on the huge stage --- Very fortunate Bama has been there & done that many times

Other things I'm proud of Bama's program doing:
* Bama was fortunate to have one of the best coaches ever coach us "The Bear"
* Bama holds a winning record against every current and former SEC school
* NCAA records include 22 10-game win streaks
* Bama has 16 seasons with a 10-0 start
* Bama has 31 10-win seasons
* Bama has something like 813 victories
* Bama 5th in all-time final AP poll appearances, with 47
* Bama has 32 bowl victories, also an NCAA record I believe
* Most SEC West Division titles(7)
* Only SEC team to win a SEC title every decade(Mark of consistency)
* Bama has had it players 114 times voted has 1st team All-Americans
* 1st team to beat 10 bowl teams in a season
* 1st team to beat the last 3 national title winner in same season
* 1st team to ever put 6 All-Americans during any given season, NCAA record
* A lot of Bama bowl wins have been against great teams
* Not just one or two coaches have done well at Bama, but it's been several coaches

Does it really matter the exact number of national tiles with such a flawed system of picking a Championship winner in CFB. All these other things Bama has done is what matters the most to me, and the great moments I've witness Bama have in my lifetime. It's funny how anyone could down what Bama has done throughout CFB history. When their program would have a hard time stacking up to what's listed above.

Now that's
"The Truth"
