Record the last 10 years

Tennessee : 10-0
Arkansas : 10-0
Mississippi State : 9-1
Florida : 6-1
Ole Miss : 8-2
Texas A&M : 4-1
Georgia : 3-1
LSU : 8-3
Auburn : 7-3
South Carolina : 1-1

Looks like it's South Carolina! Get ready for a competitive rivalry Cock's.

For balance

Swap Auburn and UT instead of AU and Missouri. It involves compromises though. UT would keep TSIO and UGA (cross division) but lose UF and Vandy.

Auburn doesn't get to play UT, though UF is the series I think most would prefer back.

Like so ("West" on the left, "east" on the right):

Alabama: Auburn
Arkansas: South Carolina
LSU: UF
Miss St: UK
Ole Miss: Vandy
A&M: Mizzou
UT:UGA

This would keep things balanced however I'd be shocked if UT would go for it, as its a net negative for them, IMO

I wouldn't call it vague as much as I'd call it dumb and illogical. Surely you'd agree with that, or are you too big of a homer to call one of your own out?

He claimed Bama was clinging to the UT rivalry strictly due to Bama's historical success over UT. However, UT enjoys the second best win percentage over Bama of all SEC teams. And they lost first place only in the last year or two of this absurd 10 game streak, which is obviously an anomaly. So there is no 'historical success' explanation in Bama clinging to a series in which it underperforms so significantly. Just admit your bro said something dumb in his weak flame attempt and move on, no big deal really.

Vandy and Kentucky lose their biggest SEC rival and UF loses their second biggest so Auburn can play Florida every year?

I can't see it happening. But maybe the AU powers have built up enough leverage to sway the whole conference to back 'em in the vote this summer?

I can imagine, Richt and Smart both salvaged their jobs by beating AU. I bet you wished GA Tech would join the SEC West.

Nah, Tech only beats us 2/10 just like Awbun.

That was a juxtaposition of the AU-UGA series as compared to the UA-Tennessee rivalry....I wasn't saying Bama shouldn't play UT despite UT being a rubberstamp game.
If that was my argument, you only represented half of my real argument..so wtf

I would love AU to move to the East. Keep Alabama as last game and get back great games with Florida and Tenn.

I really miss the FL games.

I know Al/Tenn is huge, but honestly, do Alabama fans look at it as big rivalry anymore?

Of course, I blame Mizzou for this mess.

If Auburn were to move East, the Iron Bowl probably wouldn't stay as the final game for very long. Even if Alabama was the permanent opponent, it would likely get moved.

Well considering they've only won the West like 4-5 times in 25 years, it makes sense that they'd want to puss out and move to the East.

I think the root issue is that expansion has made it where (in my view, at least) we miss out on a lot of good games that were enjoyed in the past.

I actually am fine with the 9 SEC games a year. In the current system, it is crazy how long teams in the same conference can go without playing each other.

And I do not think Alabama/Tenn rivalry should go away, I was just wondering how Alabama fans felt about it now.

The truth is, I hate that expansion has reduced some of the games I really enjoyed. It might not sting as much had it not been teams like Mizzou getting added.

Agree with your entire post but especially this. Conference expansion sucks for the fans. And while I might not catch them every year for all the other teams, I enjoy all the traditional rivalries and want them all protected wherever possible, including resuming some of the old Auburn ones (or switching them to the east) if that could be done without fricking over other series.

More to your question, I'm in my mid 30's and I care deeply about TSIO. It's been lopsided as of late but it's a series I have fond memories going back to some classics I saw as a boy in Legion Field. As far as Alabama goes, all I really care about is playing Auburn and Tennessee every year.

I'm not sure FL, UGA, and UT want us in the East. Only makes it harder for them to get to Atlanta. Though I would like to think Florida fans would enjoy playing us every year again.

Heard a rumor that Bama didn't want us playing in the state of Florida regularly as that would help our recruiting. Not sure how true that is.

I would like to see it happen. Don't think it will but maybe if we add more teams to get to 16?

I think most Gator fans prefer to get the game back. There's so much history in the series and not to mention Auburn is the closest SEC school to Gainesville. Ridiculous how little we play under the current scheduling format.
